You will act as a strategic advisor to C-suite leadership, articulating how the Velaris portfolio aligns with the shifting regulatory environment. Beyond strategy, you will mentor junior staff on satellite communications and the intricacies of standards development. Joining this enthusiastic team offers the opportunity to make a substantial, lasting impact on the global future of air transportation.

- Identify and respond to all relevant international RFIs, for example proposals for spectrum allocation for UAS / RPAS / AAM / IAM vehicles.
- Respond to international aviation safety rulemaking proposals. Advise the relevant aviation authorities on Viasat’s, and the broader C2 link connectivity service providers’, realistic capabilities.
- Speak at tradeshows and on virtual webinars / podcasts as an SME on the current UAS / RPAS / AAM / IAM regulatory environment, and on Viasat’s role in the evolving ecosystem.
- Administrative account management for relevant aviation safety memberships and standards groups.
- Support similar activities, as needed, for Viasat’s AOS business (traditional commercial aviation).
- Support AOS on coordinated legislative priorities for AAM.
- Act as a dedicated mentor to junior staff, fostering professional growth by providing guidance on industry regulations, satellite communication fundamentals, and best practices for navigating complex standards environments.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
- Communications engineering preferred.
- Experience working with aviation standards development organizations such as FAA, RTCA, EUROCAE, and ASTM.
- Detailed knowledge of ICAO’s role, organizational structure, and guidance development processes.

Job Roles at Viasat
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Viasat H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target roles aligned with Viasat's core engineering divisions
Viasat's H-1B sponsorship concentrates in satellite systems, RF engineering, embedded software, and cybersecurity. Focusing your applications on these technical areas gives you the strongest chance of landing a role where sponsorship is a standard part of the hiring process.
Confirm sponsorship eligibility before applying
Not every Viasat role includes H-1B sponsorship, even within technical departments. Review job postings carefully for sponsorship language, and use Migrate Mate to filter for Viasat positions verified against real sponsorship history before investing time in an application.
Understand that Viasat operates in a security-sensitive industry
Electronics and defense hardware work often requires security clearances or access to controlled technology. Some roles may be restricted to U.S. citizens or permanent residents, so identify clearance requirements early to avoid applying for positions where H-1B sponsorship is not possible.
Engage with Viasat's university recruiting pipeline
Viasat actively recruits from engineering programs and supports F-1 OPT and CPT, which often transitions into H-1B sponsorship. If you're completing a relevant degree, targeting Viasat through campus recruiting can establish a relationship well before the H-1B filing window opens.
Prepare for a technically rigorous hiring process
Viasat's engineering interviews are thorough, particularly for hardware and systems roles. Arriving with hands-on experience in satellite communications, antenna design, or embedded systems will strengthen your case and signal you're ready to contribute in a specialty occupation context.
Time your job search around the H-1B cap season
H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. For cap-subject roles at Viasat, start your job search in the fall or winter so there's time to receive an offer, complete the LCA process, and file before the April deadline.

Does Viasat sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Viasat sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying technical roles. Sponsorship is most common in engineering-intensive positions across its satellite communications and defense electronics divisions. Not every open role includes sponsorship, so reviewing the job posting carefully and confirming with the recruiter early in the process is the practical first step.
Which roles and departments at Viasat are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Viasat is concentrated in roles that require a degree in a specific technical field. RF and antenna engineers, embedded software developers, systems engineers, and cybersecurity specialists are the categories most consistently associated with sponsorship. General business, operations, or support roles are less likely to qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B standards.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process when applying to Viasat?
Once Viasat extends an offer, the company's immigration counsel files a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor certifying the offered wage meets prevailing wage levels. After LCA certification, they file the H-1B petition with USCIS. Your role is to provide supporting documentation, including your degree credentials and any relevant experience records, in a timely manner when requested.
How long does H-1B processing take at Viasat?
Standard H-1B processing through USCIS typically takes three to five months after the petition is filed. Viasat, like most employers, has the option to use premium processing, which guarantees a decision within 15 business days for an additional fee. For cap-subject petitions, the employment start date cannot be earlier than October 1 regardless of when USCIS adjudicates the case.
How do I find verified H-1B jobs at Viasat?
Migrate Mate tracks verified H-1B sponsors and surfaces open roles at companies like Viasat with confirmed sponsorship history, so you're not applying blind. When searching, filter for Viasat specifically and focus on engineering and technical job categories where H-1B sponsorship is a realistic part of the offer. Applying through channels where sponsorship is already confirmed saves significant time and effort.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Viasat?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
