Why this role matters
If you love the intersection of projects + numbers + people, this is your seat at the table. As a Senior Project Accountant, you’ll be the trusted financial partner to Project Managers—owning the accuracy behind project setup, WIP, billing, reporting, and closeout—while also training and mentoring the next generation of project accounting talent. You’ll bring structure, clarity, and momentum to the project financial lifecycle in a fast-paced environment. You’ll report to the Director of Project Accounting and play a key role in strengthening process consistency, improving cash flow outcomes, and elevating the team’s capability. This is more than just a numbers role—it’s your chance to contribute to a collaborative, growth-focused team where your precision and initiative will help drive our success. We offer a supportive work culture, competitive salary and benefits, and real opportunities for professional development.
- Manage the full project accounting lifecycle for a portfolio of projects—from setup through closeout.
- Ensure projects are configured correctly in Deltek: contract terms, billing terms, rate tables, budgets, labor categories, and key project attributes.
- Monitor and maintain financial integrity: budget vs. actuals, labor postings, WIP/unbilled, AR aging support, and project status.
- Prepare and/or review invoices across common billing types (T&M, lump sum, NTE, cost-plus, retainers, etc.).
- Partner with PMs to ensure invoices are accurate, timely, and aligned with contract requirements—including required backup and portal submissions.
- Serve as a point of escalation for complex project accounting questions—digging in, finding root causes, and driving clean resolution.
- Deliver clear reporting and insights to PMs and leadership (WIP, unbilled, project performance, trends, and risks).
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements that reduce rework, improve accuracy, and support scalability.
- Train and onboard Project Accounting Assistants and Project Accountants on Deltek workflows, billing standards, and best practices.
- Provide coaching, quality reviews, and practical guidance that builds confidence and consistency.
- Contribute to SOPs, checklists, and tools that help the whole function run smoother.
What we're looking for
Required
- 5+ years of project accounting experience in the A&E industry (or closely related professional services).

- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with high accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and a service mindset—able to partner effectively with PMs and leadership.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to manage multiple projects while ensuring accuracy in reporting and compliance.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret financial data, provide insights, and collaborate effectively with project teams and clients.

Job Roles at Walker Consultants
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Walker Consultants H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target technical and analytical roles first
Walker Consultants' H-1B sponsorship activity is concentrated in specialty occupation roles tied to consulting and engineering. Focus your applications on positions requiring a specific degree field rather than generalist or support roles, which are less likely to qualify.
Engage the recruiter early about sponsorship
In consulting and professional services, hiring decisions move quickly. Raise your H-1B sponsorship needs in the first recruiter conversation rather than waiting for an offer stage, so both sides avoid wasted time if sponsorship isn't available for that role.
Align your degree to the job description precisely
H-1B approval depends on demonstrating your degree directly relates to the offered role. Review Walker Consultants job postings carefully and emphasize the connection between your specific academic background and the technical requirements listed in each position.
Use Migrate Mate to verify sponsorship history before applying
Not every consulting firm sponsors consistently across all roles. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you prioritize Walker Consultants openings where H-1B support is most likely to be available.
Prepare for a structured technical interview process
Walker Consultants, like most professional services firms, evaluates candidates rigorously before committing to sponsorship. Strong technical performance signals you're worth the investment. Arriving well-prepared reduces hesitation from hiring managers unfamiliar with H-1B requirements.

Does Walker Consultants sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Walker Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying roles in its consulting and professional services operations. Sponsorship is tied to specialty occupation positions where a specific degree is required. Not every open role will be eligible, so it's worth confirming sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process.
Which roles at Walker Consultants are most likely to receive H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Walker Consultants is most common in technical and analytical consulting roles, particularly those requiring a degree in engineering, architecture, or a related specialized field. Generalist positions or roles where any bachelor's degree satisfies the requirement are less likely to meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires for H-1B approval.
How do I navigate the H-1B application process at Walker Consultants?
Once Walker Consultants extends an offer, their legal or HR team works with an immigration attorney to file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor, then submits the H-1B petition to USCIS. Cap-subject candidates must be registered in the annual lottery, which opens each March. You won't need to manage the filing yourself, but you'll need to provide supporting documentation promptly.
How long does H-1B sponsorship take at Walker Consultants?
For cap-subject H-1B petitions, the timeline runs from lottery registration in March through a potential October 1 start date, assuming selection and standard processing. Premium processing can shorten USCIS adjudication to around 15 business days once the petition is filed. Plan for a process that spans several months from offer acceptance to approved status.
How do I find H-1B sponsored jobs at Walker Consultants?
Search for Walker Consultants openings on Migrate Mate, which aggregates roles from verified H-1B sponsors and lets you filter by company and visa type. When you apply, be direct with recruiters about needing H-1B sponsorship from the first conversation. Consulting firms appreciate candidates who understand the process and raise it proactively rather than at the offer stage.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Walker Consultants?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
