Align your credentials with U.S. hospitality standards
Hilton evaluates COO candidates against U.S.-based operational benchmarks, not international equivalents. Get any foreign degrees assessed by a NACES-accredited credential evaluation service before you apply, so your qualifications translate cleanly on paper.
Target Hilton's managed versus franchised properties
Hilton corporate directly employs COOs for its managed portfolio, while franchised properties hire independently. Sponsorship decisions flow through Hilton's corporate HR for managed assets, so focus your applications there rather than franchise-operated locations.
Understand where H-2B fits senior operational roles
The H-2B visa covers temporary nonagricultural workers in hospitality, but it's tied to seasonal or peak-demand workforce needs. Confirm with your recruiter whether the COO opening is structured as a temporary or ongoing role, since that determines which visa pathway applies.
Time your application around Hilton's budget cycles
Hilton typically opens senior operational roles ahead of Q1 planning cycles and ahead of major expansion announcements. Applying in the September through November window puts you in front of hiring managers while headcount decisions are still being finalized.
Clarify visa support scope before accepting an offer
Before signing, confirm in writing whether Hilton is covering USCIS filing fees, legal representation, and premium processing. COO-level offers at major hotel groups often include immigration support packages, but the scope varies and silence on this detail creates problems at the filing stage.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active COO openings
Sponsorship-eligible COO roles at Hilton aren't always flagged clearly on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Hilton positions that support visa sponsorship, so you're only pursuing openings where immigration support is already on the table.

Does Hilton sponsor H-1B visas for COOs?
Hilton's documented sponsorship activity for COO-level roles has been primarily through the H-2B visa, which covers temporary hospitality workforce needs. H-1B sponsorship is more common for roles classified as specialty occupations requiring a specific bachelor's degree. Whether a COO opening qualifies for H-1B depends on how the role is defined and the candidate's credentials. Confirming the intended visa pathway with Hilton's HR or legal team early in the process is the right move.
How do I apply for COO jobs at Hilton?
Applications for COO roles go through Hilton's careers portal at jobs.hilton.com. Senior operational roles at this level often involve a multi-stage process: an initial HR screen, interviews with regional leadership, and an operational case or presentation round. You can also use Migrate Mate to surface active sponsorship-eligible openings at Hilton and apply directly from there without having to manually filter through listings.
Which visa types are commonly used for COO roles at Hilton?
The H-2B visa is the primary visa type associated with Hilton's hospitality workforce sponsorship. For COO-level candidates with specialized qualifications, the H-1B or O-1A (for individuals with extraordinary ability in business or management) may also be relevant depending on the candidate's profile. Green Card sponsorship through employment-based categories like EB-1C, which covers multinational executives and managers, is another pathway for senior leaders already working within Hilton's global portfolio.
What qualifications and experience does Hilton expect for a COO role?
Hilton COO candidates are typically expected to have extensive multi-property or regional hotel operations experience, a strong track record managing large teams, and familiarity with Hilton's brand standards and operational systems. A bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business, or a related field is generally expected, with an MBA or equivalent preferred at this level. Prior experience within a major hotel group or brand-managed portfolio carries significant weight in the evaluation process.
How do I estimate the timeline from application to starting a COO role at Hilton with visa sponsorship?
The full timeline depends on the visa type. H-2B petitions require a DOL certification step before USCIS filing, which adds several weeks to the process. H-1B cases filed outside the annual cap may use premium processing for a 15-business-day USCIS adjudication window. From first interview to an approved visa, realistically plan for three to six months. Factor in additional lead time if consular processing abroad is required rather than a change of status from within the U.S.
