Align your credentials to PE licensure expectations
HR Green operates across multiple U.S. states, and many senior civil roles require or strongly prefer a Professional Engineer license. Before applying, assess where your EIT status or foreign credentials stand and document any equivalency evaluations from a NACES-approved organization.
Target project specializations HR Green actively staffs
HR Green's civil engineering work concentrates heavily in transportation, municipal infrastructure, and land development consulting. Framing your resume around one of these verticals, rather than generalist experience, signals direct fit for the service lines they staff most consistently.
Search verified visa-sponsoring civil roles through Migrate Mate
Filter for Civil Engineer openings at HR Green on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where the employer has an active sponsorship history. This saves you from applying to postings where sponsorship is unlikely to be offered.
Confirm your OPT or CPT timeline before your interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, HR Green will need enough runway to file an H-1B cap petition before your authorization expires. USCIS requires the petition to be filed before your OPT end date, so map out your expiration against the April filing window before you enter offer negotiations.
Understand how TN status applies to civil consulting
Canadian and Mexican nationals in civil engineering qualify for TN status under the engineer category, which HR Green has sponsored. TN requires a job offer letter specifying the engineering role and your citizenship, with no USCIS petition required for Canadians entering at the border.
Request clarity on LCA filing timing during the offer stage
Before your H-1B petition can be filed, HR Green's legal team must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, which typically takes seven business days. Knowing this step is in motion before you give notice at a current employer helps you avoid unnecessary gaps.

Does HR Green sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Engineers?
Yes, HR Green sponsors H-1B visas for Civil Engineer roles. As a professional services employer with engineering operations across multiple U.S. states, they have experience navigating the H-1B process for technical staff. If you're in the H-1B cap lottery or transitioning from OPT, confirm timing with your recruiter early in the process, since USCIS petition windows are fixed each April.
How do I apply for Civil Engineer jobs at HR Green?
Applications go through HR Green's careers portal, where Civil Engineer openings are listed by location and practice area. Tailoring your application to a specific service line, such as transportation or municipal infrastructure, improves relevance. You can also browse and filter HR Green's open civil roles on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify which postings align with your visa type before you apply.
Which visa types does HR Green commonly use for Civil Engineer positions?
HR Green sponsors H-1B visas for Civil Engineers and has also worked with F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visa holders. For Canadian and Mexican nationals, TN status is often the most efficient path since it bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. F-1 students in civil engineering programs frequently enter through CPT during internships or OPT after graduation before transitioning to H-1B.
What qualifications does HR Green expect for Civil Engineer roles?
Most Civil Engineer postings at HR Green require a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field, which is also the baseline for H-1B specialty occupation eligibility. Many mid-level and senior roles prefer candidates who hold an Engineer-in-Training certification or active Professional Engineer licensure. Project experience in transportation, land development, or municipal infrastructure is consistently relevant across their service lines.
How do I time my visa sponsorship process when targeting HR Green?
If you're pursuing H-1B sponsorship, the cap petition window opens each April for an October 1 start date, so offer and LCA timelines need to work backward from that deadline. HR Green must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting your petition to USCIS. If you're on OPT with a STEM extension, you may have additional time to align your offer with the next available cap cycle.
