Align Your Credentials to PE Licensure Requirements
Walker Consultants values engineers progressing toward Professional Engineer licensure. Before applying, document your education, EIT status, and supervised experience hours so your credentials clearly map to U.S. PE eligibility from day one.
Target Offices Matching Your Specialization
Walker Consultants operates across parking, structural, and infrastructure consulting. Identify which service line matches your background and apply to offices actively advertising in that discipline rather than sending a general application across the firm.
Clarify Your Visa Category Before the Offer Stage
Consulting firms typically sponsor H-1B, TN, or OPT extensions depending on your nationality and current status. Raise your visa situation during the late interview stage, not after an offer, so both sides can align on the correct filing pathway without delays.
Understand How PERM Timing Affects Your Career Plan
If long-term sponsorship toward a Green Card matters to you, ask Walker Consultants whether they initiate PERM for this role level. DOL's PERM process can take 12 to 18 months before an I-140 is filed, so starting that conversation early shapes your planning significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Civil Engineer Roles
Walker Consultants posts Civil Engineer openings across multiple offices at different seniority levels. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Walker Consultants roles that align with your visa type so you're applying to the right positions from the start.
Prepare a Portfolio Demonstrating Project Delivery Experience
Consulting firms like Walker Consultants evaluate candidates on direct project responsibility, not just technical coursework. Compile examples showing your role in design, client coordination, or construction oversight before your interview to accelerate the hiring decision.

Find Civil Engineer at Walker Consultants JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Walker Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Engineers?
Yes, Walker Consultants has a history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Civil Engineer roles. As a consulting firm, they're familiar with the H-1B petition process through USCIS, including the annual April lottery cycle. If you're on OPT, it's worth confirming with the hiring team early whether they'll file an H-1B cap-subject petition on your behalf before your work authorization expires.
How do I apply for Civil Engineer jobs at Walker Consultants?
You can browse and apply for Civil Engineer openings at Walker Consultants directly through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions that match your immigration status. Tailor your application to the specific service line, whether parking structures, transportation, or structural engineering, since Walker Consultants hires into distinct practice areas.
Which visa types does Walker Consultants commonly use for Civil Engineers?
Walker Consultants sponsors several visa categories for Civil Engineers, including H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT and STEM OPT extensions, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. The right pathway depends on your nationality, education level, and current immigration status. TN is often faster for eligible nationals since it bypasses the H-1B lottery.
What qualifications does Walker Consultants expect for Civil Engineer roles?
Walker Consultants typically looks for a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with preference for candidates working toward or holding a Professional Engineer license. Relevant experience in structural analysis, site design, or infrastructure consulting strengthens your candidacy. For H-1B eligibility, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which a civil engineering degree and job duties typically satisfy.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap if I'm on OPT?
If you're on F-1 OPT and targeting Walker Consultants, aim to secure an offer by February or March so your employer can file your H-1B petition before the April 1 USCIS registration window closes. STEM OPT extensions give you up to 24 additional months of work authorization, which provides a buffer if you miss one lottery cycle and need to try again the following year.
