Align your resume to consulting deliverables
Walker Consultants evaluates Software Engineers on client-facing project impact, not just technical stack. Frame your experience around scoped deliverables, cross-functional collaboration, and measurable outcomes rather than listing technologies you've used.
Confirm OPT STEM extension eligibility early
Consulting firms are E-Verify participants, which is required for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Before applying, verify your degree qualifies under the STEM designated degree list so you can clearly communicate your authorized work timeline to recruiters.
Ask explicitly about H-1B cap-subject filing timelines
USCIS H-1B registration opens in March for an October 1 start date. When you reach the offer stage, ask the recruiter directly whether the company files in the annual lottery window, so you can plan around the timeline accurately.
Understand how PERM fits your long-term path
Walker Consultants sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, both of which require a PERM labor certification filed with DOL. Consulting firms typically begin PERM after you've been in a role for a defined period, so ask about the company's standard timeline during negotiations.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Software Engineer roles
Sponsorship-willing employers are hard to identify through general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter Software Engineer openings at Walker Consultants by visa type, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing at recruiter conversations.

Does Walker Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Walker Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineers. The company has a documented history of filing H-1B petitions for this role. Because H-1B sponsorship is tied to the annual USCIS cap and lottery, timing your application and offer process around the March registration window is critical for cap-subject candidates.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Walker Consultants?
You can find and apply for Software Engineer roles at Walker Consultants through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. From there, the process typically moves through a recruiter screen, technical assessment, and panel interviews focused on both engineering skills and consulting-oriented problem-solving.
Which visa types does Walker Consultants sponsor for Software Engineer roles?
Walker Consultants sponsors H-1B visas, supports F-1 OPT and STEM OPT extensions, and files for permanent residency through the EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories. TN visas are also available for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Software Engineer positions. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree, and career stage.
What qualifications does Walker Consultants expect for Software Engineer roles?
Walker Consultants generally looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. For H-1B sponsorship, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, which typically requires that degree-level training is a standard requirement for the position. Prior consulting or client-facing project experience strengthens your application significantly.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for Software Engineers at Walker Consultants?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. H-1B sponsorship for cap-subject candidates requires clearing the March lottery and waiting for an October 1 start date, a process that can span six to nine months from offer to start. OPT transfers are faster, often completing within a few weeks of hire. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM typically begins after an initial employment period and can take one to three years or more depending on your priority date.
