Align your bar admission to open markets
Husch Blackwell operates across multiple states, so check which jurisdictions have active Attorney openings and confirm your bar admission or eligibility before applying. Sponsorship conversations go further when you're already licensure-ready in a market the firm is hiring in.
Flag your visa status early in applications
Law firms structure offers around bar results and start dates, so your work authorization timeline affects both. Disclose your visa situation in your cover letter so the recruiting team can loop in HR and outside counsel before an offer is extended.
Research practice group hiring patterns before outreach
Husch Blackwell's sponsored Attorney roles tend to cluster in specific practice areas. Review recent lateral and associate postings to identify which groups are actively growing, then target your applications and networking toward those teams specifically.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Attorney openings by sponsorship
Not every law firm posting signals visa sponsorship clearly. Use Migrate Mate to browse Husch Blackwell Attorney roles filtered by sponsorship history, so you spend time on positions where international candidates have a realistic path.
Prepare a credentials packet before the offer stage
For H-1B filings, Husch Blackwell's HR and outside immigration counsel will need your transcripts, bar admission certificates, and any foreign degree equivalency documentation. Having a complete packet ready shortens the time between offer acceptance and USCIS petition filing.

Find Attorney at Husch Blackwell JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Husch Blackwell sponsor H-1B visas for Attorneys?
Yes, Husch Blackwell has sponsored H-1B visas for Attorney roles. The firm works with immigration counsel to handle filings, so sponsored candidates go through a structured process coordinated between HR and outside legal support. Your eligibility depends on your qualifications, the specific role, and where you are in your current visa status timeline.
How do I apply for Attorney jobs at Husch Blackwell?
Applications go through Husch Blackwell's careers portal, where postings are organized by practice group and office location. You can also find Attorney openings filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which helps you identify roles where international candidates have a realistic path before investing time in a full application.
Which visa types are commonly used for Attorney roles at Husch Blackwell?
H-1B is the most common work visa for Attorney roles at law firms, since the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a law degree. F-1 OPT and CPT can cover you during your student and early post-graduation period. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals with a law degree working in qualifying legal roles. J-1 may apply in research or exchange contexts.
What qualifications does Husch Blackwell expect for sponsored Attorney positions?
Husch Blackwell typically requires a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and bar admission or eligibility in the relevant state. For international candidates, foreign law degrees may be accepted depending on the role and practice group, but a U.S. law degree and bar licensure significantly strengthen your candidacy. Relevant practice area experience matters more at the mid-level than at the entry associate level.
How does the sponsorship and filing timeline work for Attorney roles?
Once an offer is extended, Husch Blackwell's HR team coordinates with immigration counsel to assess your status and initiate filings. For H-1B, the USCIS registration window opens in March with an October 1 start date, so timing your offer relative to that cycle is critical. If you're on OPT, your employer needs enough runway before expiration to file and receive approval.
