Align Your Credentials to Specialty Practice Groups
Husch Blackwell organizes its paralegals by practice group, so a degree or certification tied to litigation, corporate, or regulatory work strengthens your candidacy. Tailor your resume to reflect the specific legal area each posted role supports.
Confirm Your Visa Type Before Applying
Paralegal roles at law firms can qualify under H-1B if the position requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Confirm with USCIS specialty occupation criteria that your degree and the job description align before submitting an application.
Target Offices With Active Hiring Pipelines
Husch Blackwell operates multiple offices across the U.S., and paralegal hiring is not uniform across all locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter open paralegal roles by office and identify which markets have active sponsorship-eligible openings right now.
Prepare for the LCA Filing Timeline Early
After an offer is extended, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting the H-1B petition to USCIS. Understand this sequence so you can set realistic start date expectations with your hiring manager from the beginning.
Leverage OPT or CPT to Build Billable Experience
Law firms weigh billable-adjacent experience heavily when evaluating paralegals. If you're on F-1 OPT or CPT, prioritizing legal internships or paralegal assistant roles builds the practical track record Husch Blackwell's hiring teams look for in sponsored candidates.
Address Specialty Occupation Questions Proactively
USCIS sometimes scrutinizes paralegal H-1B petitions because the role's degree requirement must be specific, not just preferred. Ask the recruiting team how the role's job description is structured and whether prior approved petitions establish a pattern for that practice group.

Find Paralegal at Husch Blackwell JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Husch Blackwell sponsor H-1B visas for Paralegals?
Husch Blackwell has sponsored H-1B visas for paralegal roles, though approval depends on whether the specific position meets USCIS specialty occupation requirements. A paralegal role must require a bachelor's degree in a particular field to qualify. Roles tied to specialized practice areas like immigration, corporate, or regulatory law tend to have stronger specialty occupation arguments than general litigation support positions.
Which visa types are commonly used for Paralegal roles at Husch Blackwell?
H-1B is the most common visa path for degreed paralegal candidates at law firms like Husch Blackwell. F-1 OPT and CPT allow students to gain qualifying experience before an H-1B petition is filed. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible classifications, and J-1 visas can apply in specific training or exchange contexts.
What qualifications does Husch Blackwell look for in sponsored Paralegal candidates?
Husch Blackwell generally expects paralegal candidates to hold a bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program, with experience tied to the firm's active practice groups. Sponsored candidates benefit from demonstrating specialized knowledge, whether in transactional support, regulatory research, or litigation document management, that justifies the degree-specific requirement USCIS looks for in H-1B filings.
How do I apply for Paralegal jobs at Husch Blackwell?
You can browse and apply for open paralegal roles at Husch Blackwell through Migrate Mate, which surfaces sponsorship-eligible positions and filters by visa type so you can confirm the role fits your situation before applying. Husch Blackwell posts openings across multiple offices, so checking regularly ensures you catch roles in the markets where hiring is most active.
How do I plan around the H-1B filing timeline for a Paralegal offer?
Cap-subject H-1B petitions can only be filed once per year in April, with an October 1 start date if selected. If you receive an offer after the filing window closes, you may need to bridge on OPT or another status until the next cap season. Discuss timing with your recruiter early, and confirm whether the role qualifies for cap-exempt filing through a nonprofit or government-affiliated entity.
