Align your degree with KBR's technical roles
KBR recruits interns into engineering and project-based functions where your field of study must directly match the role. A degree in civil, mechanical, or chemical engineering strengthens your specialty occupation case if sponsorship comes up during conversion to full-time.
Target KBR's structured internship programs specifically
KBR runs defined internship cohorts tied to specific business units like industrial services and government solutions. Applying to a structured program rather than an ad hoc posting gives you better visibility into whether full-time sponsorship pathways exist after the internship ends.
Clarify sponsorship intent before accepting an offer
During the offer stage, ask HR directly whether KBR has sponsored interns for H-1B or EB-class visas in your business unit. Manufacturing and infrastructure divisions operate differently, so sponsorship availability varies by department, not just company-wide policy.
Verify your OPT timeline against KBR's conversion cycle
KBR typically converts high-performing interns at the end of a program cycle, which may run close to your OPT expiration. Confirm your OPT end date with your DSO well before your internship concludes so there's no gap in work authorization during an H-1B transition.
Use Migrate Mate to find open intern roles at KBR
Searching broadly misses roles that KBR posts under project-specific or department-specific titles. Migrate Mate filters KBR internship openings by sponsorship history so you can prioritize applications to positions where visa support has actually been extended.
Understand EB-2 and EB-3 as long-term post-internship options
KBR has filed EB-class labor certifications for technical roles, which require a PERM application through DOL. If you're converting from an intern to a permanent employee, ask your recruiter early whether your role has a defined green card pathway built into the promotion structure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does KBR sponsor H-1B visas for Interns?
KBR's sponsorship activity for intern roles is concentrated in technical and engineering functions rather than across all departments. H-1B visa sponsorship is more commonly extended when an intern converts to a full-time position after the program ends. If you're in a manufacturing or infrastructure-aligned role, ask your recruiter directly about the conversion and sponsorship process before your internship concludes.
How do I apply for Intern jobs at KBR?
Applications go through KBR's careers portal, where roles are listed by business unit and location. For faster targeting, Migrate Mate lets you filter KBR's open intern postings by visa sponsorship history so you're applying to positions where sponsorship has been extended before. Tailor your resume to the specific technical function listed, since KBR reviews intern applications by department.
Which visa types are commonly used for Intern roles at KBR?
Most international interns at KBR work on F-1 OPT or CPT during the internship itself, which doesn't require the employer to file anything with USCIS. For candidates transitioning to full-time roles, KBR has a history of filing H-1B petitions and EB-2 or EB-3 labor certifications for technical positions in manufacturing and government services.
What qualifications does KBR look for in Intern candidates?
KBR intern roles in manufacturing and industrial services typically require enrollment in an engineering, project management, or technical sciences program. Familiarity with project controls, CAD tools, or process engineering workflows is frequently cited in postings. For visa sponsorship to be viable at the full-time conversion stage, your degree field needs to directly match the specialty occupation defined in the role.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap if I'm converting from an intern role?
H-1B cap filings open in March for an October 1 start date. If your internship ends in summer and KBR wants to convert you, your employer needs to submit the H-1B registration in March of that year. Confirm your conversion timeline with HR at least six months before your OPT expires so USCIS registration deadlines don't catch you or your employer off guard.
