Earn a CPA-track credential before applying
KPMG's Finance Associate roles almost universally require or expect CPA eligibility. Sitting for the exam, or documenting your progress toward it, signals professional seriousness and removes a common objection hiring managers raise about international candidates.
Target KPMG's campus recruiting cycle strategically
KPMG sources a large share of Finance Associates through fall and spring campus recruiting. Missing the formal cycle forces you into lateral hiring, which has fewer open seats and slower sponsorship timelines. Apply through their campus portal before September deadlines.
Clarify your visa category during the offer stage
KPMG sponsors multiple visa types for this function. When you receive an offer, confirm in writing which pathway they intend to file, since H-1B, E-3, and employment-based Green Card processes each have different start dates, caps, and filing windows that affect your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to filter KPMG openings by sponsorship type
Not every Finance Associate posting at KPMG leads to the same visa pathway. Use Migrate Mate to filter current openings by the specific visa type that applies to your nationality, so you're targeting roles where your sponsorship situation already fits.
Align your degree field to KPMG's specialty occupation standard
For H-1B eligibility, USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the Finance Associate role. Accounting, finance, or economics degrees map cleanly. A general business degree without a finance concentration can draw a request for evidence, so document the coursework explicitly.
Account for PERM timing if a Green Card is your goal
KPMG does pursue EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship for Finance Associates, but PERM labor certification typically begins only after you've established tenure in the role. DOL processing alone can run a year or more, so factor that into your long-term status planning from day one.

Find Finance Associate at KPMG JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does KPMG sponsor H-1B visas for Finance Associates?
Yes, KPMG sponsors H-1B visas for Finance Associates. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, KPMG typically coordinates filings for the April lottery window, with employment starting October 1 if selected. If you're already in H-1B status through another employer, a transfer petition bypasses the lottery entirely and can be filed year-round.
Which visa types does KPMG commonly use for Finance Associate roles?
KPMG sponsors Finance Associates on H-1B, E-3, and employment-based immigrant visas including EB-2 and EB-3. Australian citizens are often routed to the E-3 pathway, which has no lottery and can be processed faster. Green Card sponsorship through PERM generally becomes available after you've been with the firm for a period of time and demonstrated performance.
What qualifications does KPMG expect for a Finance Associate with visa sponsorship?
KPMG generally expects a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field, along with CPA eligibility or active exam candidacy. Strong internship experience, particularly in audit or tax, and familiarity with U.S. GAAP standards are practical expectations. For visa purposes, your degree field needs to map directly to the Finance Associate specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines.
How do I apply for Finance Associate jobs at KPMG?
Applications go through KPMG's careers portal, and most Finance Associate hiring is tied to structured campus recruiting cycles that run in fall and spring. If you've missed a campus cycle, lateral postings appear on their portal year-round. Migrate Mate also aggregates KPMG Finance Associate openings and lets you filter by visa type, which helps confirm a role is open to sponsored candidates before you apply.
How do I time my application around H-1B cap deadlines as a Finance Associate candidate?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for the following fiscal year, with employment starting October 1 if selected. KPMG typically initiates the process for new graduate hires over the summer preceding their start date. If you're on OPT, confirm your OPT end date and whether you qualify for the 24-month STEM extension, since that window affects how urgently your employer needs to file.
