INTRODUCTION
Locus Robotics designs and deploys autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) that work alongside human associates in warehouse and fulfillment environments to dramatically increase picking efficiency and throughput. Our LocusBots navigate complex, dynamic warehouse floors and integrate tightly with warehouse management systems to drive real operational results for some of the world's largest retailers and 3PLs. As we scale our hardware platform, we need sharp engineers who can ensure every robot that leaves our factory is ready to perform from day one.
We're looking for a Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer to own and optimize end-of-line testing for our autonomous robots, ensuring high quality, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency at scale.
This is an onsite position located at our Wilmington MA headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Own and improve end of line test infrastructure for LocusBot subassemblies and fully integrated robots, including software, calibration, and functional verification
- Develop and maintain automated test sequences that validate drivetrain, sensor, compute, and power systems against defined acceptance criteria
- Spend regular time on the manufacturing floor to understand technician pain points, investigate test failures, and implement solutions that improve first-pass yield (FPY) and reduce cycle time
- Collaborate cross functionally with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to translate design intent into robust, measurable test specifications
- Perform data analysis (SPC, yield trending, failure mode analysis) to identify systemic quality issues and drive continuous improvement
- Build intuitive GUI interfaces for production technicians to operate test stations with minimal training overhead
- Design and build out of new test fixtures and automated test equipment (ATE) as the product line evolves
- Author and maintain thorough documentation for all test systems, including schematics, process procedures, and test result databases
- Support pre production validation, debug efforts, and readiness before introducing new test process to the production environment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, or Software Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 6+ years of hands-on industry experience in manufacturing test, production engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Strong proficiency in Python (or nice to have: C++) for hardware interfacing actuators, motor controllers, sensors, relays, and power systems
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment, including Bash scripting and command line debugging
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and PCB layouts to diagnose hardware failures at the component level
- Familiarity with Networking Foundations and Database Management
- Experience in scaled production environments and hardware lifecycle management
- Solid experience with embedded communication protocols: Ethernet, USB, SPI, UART, SCPI, and CAN bus
- Demonstrated understanding of software engineering best practices version control, code review, modular design, and test-driven development
- Experience with data acquisition hardware and industrial I/O devices (e.g., power meters, current sensors, DAQ cards)

Target roles that align with core robotics development
Locus Robotics builds warehouse automation hardware and software, so engineers in robotics, embedded systems, and machine learning are their most natural visa-sponsored hires. Focus your application on roles where your technical background maps directly to their product.
Understand their F-1 OPT sponsorship pathway
Locus Robotics sponsors F-1 OPT, which means recent graduates in engineering, computer science, or related fields may be able to start work before H-1B sponsorship is needed. STEM OPT extension eligibility makes this pathway especially valuable.
Know the H-1B timing if you're already in the U.S.
If you're on OPT and targeting Locus Robotics for H-1B sponsorship, engage with their recruiting team well before the April lottery registration window. Employers in Electronics and Hardware often begin planning well in advance.
Canadian and Mexican candidates should ask about TN status
Locus Robotics sponsors TN visas, which allows Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations to begin work faster than the H-1B timeline allows. Engineers and computer scientists frequently qualify, so confirm eligibility with their HR team early.
Research open roles at verified sponsors before applying
Not every robotics company sponsors visas consistently. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you prioritize Locus Robotics and similar Electronics and Hardware companies with a track record of supporting international hires.
Demonstrate direct product impact in your application
Locus Robotics competes in a fast-moving AMR market where sponsorship decisions often come down to specific technical fit. Highlight hands-on experience with autonomous systems, robot software stacks, or warehouse technology to strengthen your case for sponsorship consideration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Locus Robotics sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Locus Robotics sponsors H-1B visas. The company operates in the Electronics and Hardware space, with sponsorship typically concentrated in technical roles such as software engineering, robotics, and systems development. If you're targeting H-1B sponsorship at Locus Robotics, confirm open roles align with your specialty occupation before applying.
Which visa types does Locus Robotics sponsor?
