Tailor your credentials for university facilities work
Loyola's construction roles typically support campus infrastructure and capital projects, not commercial development. Highlight experience with institutional facilities, renovation work, or project coordination within regulated environments to align with what their hiring managers expect.
Confirm your degree field supports your visa classification
H-1B eligibility for Construction roles requires a specialty occupation determination. Project management, civil engineering, or construction management degrees strengthen that case significantly more than a general trade background alone.
Engage Loyola's HR office early about sponsorship intent
University employers often route sponsorship decisions through a central HR or legal team rather than individual hiring managers. Ask directly during the offer stage whether Loyola will file an H-1B petition or support PERM, before you decline other opportunities.
Understand TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
The TN visa covers engineers, including civil engineers working in construction-adjacent roles. If your role maps to an eligible TN category, this avoids the H-1B lottery entirely and can be processed at the border or a U.S. consulate without a USCIS petition.
Search open Construction roles at Loyola using Migrate Mate
University construction openings don't always surface prominently on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Construction positions at Loyola University Chicago and identify which roles are currently active and visa-sponsorship eligible.
Plan around the H-1B cap and Loyola's academic calendar
As a nonprofit university, Loyola may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filings, which means petitions can be submitted year-round rather than competing in the April lottery. Confirm this status with Loyola's HR team before accepting a timeline tied to October 1 start dates.

Does Loyola University Chicago sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
Yes. Loyola University Chicago has a history of sponsoring H-1B visas across multiple job functions, including Construction. As a nonprofit educational institution, Loyola may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filing status, which allows petitions to be submitted to USCIS at any time of year rather than competing in the annual lottery. Confirm cap-exempt eligibility directly with Loyola's HR or legal team during the offer process.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at Loyola University Chicago?
Applications for Construction roles at Loyola University Chicago are submitted through their official careers portal. You can also browse currently open Construction positions filtered by employer on Migrate Mate, which surfaces active roles and helps you identify which opportunities are likely open to visa sponsorship. Tailor your application to highlight institutional or campus facilities experience, as Loyola's construction work centers on university infrastructure.
Which visa types are commonly used for Construction roles at Loyola University Chicago?
H-1B is the most common pathway for Construction roles requiring a bachelor's degree in a specialty field such as civil engineering or construction management. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican citizens whose roles map to an eligible engineer category. F-1 OPT and CPT can cover early-career candidates still within their post-graduation authorization window. J-1 visas may apply in exchange or training contexts.
What qualifications are expected for Construction roles at Loyola University Chicago?
Loyola's Construction positions typically require a background in facilities management, project coordination, or construction oversight within institutional or campus environments. For visa sponsorship purposes, a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a closely related field strengthens your H-1B specialty occupation case. Hands-on experience with capital projects, vendor coordination, or building systems in an educational or nonprofit setting is particularly relevant.
How do I think about timing and process when pursuing a sponsored Construction role at Loyola?
If Loyola files as a cap-exempt employer, H-1B petitions can be submitted to USCIS year-round, removing the April lottery constraint. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship for Construction roles involves a DOL labor market test that can take six months or longer before USCIS filing even begins. Raise the question of sponsorship type and expected timeline with HR before signing an offer, so you can plan your current status and grace periods accordingly.
