The laboratory of Professor Fei Li in the Department of Biology at New York University (NYU) is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral scientists with an interest in chromatin biology and epigenetics and a proven academic track record. The NIH-funded projects in the Li lab focus on studying molecular mechanisms of epigenetics and chromatin organization using fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe as a model organism. Representative publications include: Nature (2011), PMID: 21725325; Molecular Cell (2016), PMID: 27666591; Cell Reports (2016), PMID: 26832414; PNAS (2021), PMID: 34810257; PNAS (2023), PMID: 38048463; Nature Communications (2024), PMID: 38773107. Planned projects use a combination of advanced approaches, including genetics, live cell imaging, molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, and structural biology. Postdoctoral scientists will have opportunities to receive rigorous training in the latest approaches in chromatin and epigenetics research. The fellow will also benefit from state-of-the-art research facilities and the highly collaborative community at NYU. This position is for a post-PhD trainee preparing for a research scientist career path. The planned position will provide a transition to career independence through the development of professional skills; supervision by senior scientist incorporating individual development plan in support of training goals and those of faculty mentor; and publication of research findings/scholarship during postdoc appointment period.
