Align your credentials with U.S. licensing standards
Construction roles at a research university often require familiarity with U.S. building codes, OSHA standards, and project delivery methods like CM-at-Risk. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a formal equivalency evaluation before you apply.
Target facilities and capital projects postings directly
Northeastern's Construction hiring runs through its Facilities division, not general academic departments. Filter your search for titles like Project Manager, Construction Manager, or Facilities Engineer to reach roles where the university actively files for work authorization.
Understand which visa categories apply to your situation
Construction roles at Northeastern can be sponsored under H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT for recent graduates. Each has different eligibility rules and timelines, so confirm which category fits before you reach the offer stage.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Construction roles
Searching broadly across job boards makes it hard to filter for employers with a real sponsorship track record. Migrate Mate lets you browse Construction openings at Northeastern University and other verified sponsoring employers in one place.
Ask about the LCA filing timeline during the offer stage
Before H-1B sponsorship can proceed, your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL. Ask your hiring contact early whether the university's HR team initiates this in-house or through outside counsel, so you're not caught off guard on timing.

Does Northeastern University sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?

How do I apply for Construction jobs at Northeastern University?
Applications go through Northeastern's careers portal, where Construction roles are typically listed under Facilities or Capital Project Management. Tailor your resume to U.S. project delivery methods and include any relevant certifications like PMP or OSHA 30. If you need visa sponsorship, indicate that clearly during the application process rather than waiting until after an offer is extended.
Which visa types does Northeastern University commonly use for Construction roles?
Northeastern sponsors H-1B visas for eligible Construction professionals and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates in construction-related programs. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status in applicable professional categories. For longer-term pathways, the university has also supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for employees in qualifying roles.
