Align your credentials to U.S. standards early
NSU hiring committees expect degree equivalency to be clear upfront. If you hold a non-U.S. qualification, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-recognized service before applying so your application clears the initial review without delays.
Target roles requiring specialized academic expertise
NSU sponsors visas most readily for positions tied to a specific discipline where a relevant advanced degree is required. Faculty and research-adjacent education roles are stronger candidates for H-1B specialty occupation approval than generalist academic support positions.
Confirm sponsorship willingness before your interview
Ask HR directly during early conversations whether the specific role has been approved for visa sponsorship. Education positions at universities sometimes have department-level budget constraints that affect whether a given opening can support an H-1B or E-3 filing.
Understand the LCA filing requirement for your offer
Before USCIS processes your H-1B petition, NSU must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing rate for your role and location. Confirm this step is underway before your start date is set.

Find Education at Nova Southeastern University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Nova Southeastern University sponsor H-1B visas for Education roles?
Yes, Nova Southeastern University sponsors H-1B visas for Education positions, particularly faculty, research, and specialized instructional roles that qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria. The role must require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field directly related to the position. Generalist or administrative education roles may face a harder specialty occupation determination, so the specific job title and duties matter.
Which visa types are commonly used for Education roles at Nova Southeastern University?
NSU supports several visa pathways for Education hires, including H-1B for specialty occupation roles, E-3 for Australian citizens, and TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying academic positions. J-1 is common for visiting scholars and exchange researchers. F-1 OPT and CPT cover students completing practical training. For permanent roles, NSU has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
How do I apply for Education jobs at Nova Southeastern University?
Browse open Education positions at NSU through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can identify openings suited to your status. Applications typically go through NSU's internal HR portal. When applying, confirm in your cover letter or initial outreach that you require sponsorship, and specify your visa type and any OPT or grace period timeline so hiring managers can assess fit before the process advances.
What qualifications are expected for Education positions at Nova Southeastern University?
Most Education roles at NSU require at minimum a master's degree, with faculty positions typically requiring a doctorate in a relevant discipline. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is strongly preferred for instructional roles. Research-focused positions may also require a publication record or demonstrated grant activity. For visa purposes, your degree must align directly with the duties of the specific role you're applying for.
How do I plan my timeline for H-1B sponsorship through NSU?
If you're on F-1 OPT, NSU must submit your H-1B registration during USCIS's lottery window, which typically opens in early March for an October 1 start date. That means you need a signed offer well before March. If you're selected in the lottery, NSU files the full petition between April and June. Build at least four to six months of lead time into your job search to land an offer before the registration deadline.
