Align your credentials to U.S. standards
If your construction or engineering degree came from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before applying. NSU's HR team will assess equivalency early, and an unreviewed foreign degree slows the process.
Target facilities and capital projects postings
NSU's Construction openings typically sit under Facilities Management or Capital Projects departments. Filter your search to those divisions specifically. Roles tied to active campus expansion or renovation projects are the ones most likely to require specialized hires and support sponsorship.
Browse NSU Construction openings on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Construction jobs at NSU by visa type so you only apply to roles where sponsorship is confirmed. This removes the guesswork and saves you from pursuing postings that won't support your work authorization needs.
Ask about LCA timelines before accepting an offer
For H-1B transfers or new filings, NSU must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS sees your petition. Confirm your start date accounts for that window. A six to eight week runway is realistic for straightforward cases.
Clarify OPT STEM extension eligibility early
Construction Management and related engineering programs are STEM-designated, which may qualify your degree for a 24-month OPT extension. Verify your CIP code with NSU's international student office before your initial 12-month OPT expires to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Prepare a PERM-ready employment history file
If your goal is permanent residence via EB-2 or EB-3, NSU will need to run PERM labor certification through DOL. Document every prior construction role with exact dates, duties, and employer contacts now. Gaps or inconsistencies in work history are the most common reason PERM audits stall.

Find Construction at Nova Southeastern University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Nova Southeastern University sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
Yes, Nova Southeastern University sponsors H-1B visas for Construction positions, particularly for roles requiring a specialty occupation degree such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture. Because NSU is a nonprofit educational institution, it qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer, meaning petitions can be filed at any time of year without waiting for the annual lottery.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at Nova Southeastern University?
Applications go through NSU's official careers portal. Search by department or keyword, then apply directly with a resume tailored to the specific role and project scope listed. During the interview process, raise visa sponsorship clearly so hiring managers can loop in HR early. Positions tied to active capital projects tend to move faster through the offer and sponsorship pipeline.
Which visa types does NSU commonly use for Construction positions?
NSU sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and J-1 visas for eligible Construction hires, and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates. For permanent residence, NSU has filed under EB-2 and EB-3 categories via PERM labor certification. The right category depends on your nationality, degree level, and career stage.
What qualifications does NSU expect for sponsored Construction roles?
Most sponsored Construction roles at NSU require at minimum a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field. Licensure such as a PE or CCM may be required for senior roles. Facilities and capital project positions also value direct experience with university or large institutional construction environments, where compliance and multi-stakeholder coordination are standard.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Construction hire at NSU?
For H-1B transfers, expect four to eight weeks for DOL Labor Condition Application certification plus USCIS processing time, which runs three to five months standard or two to three weeks with premium processing. PERM labor certification for Green Card pathways takes considerably longer, often 12 to 18 months or more. Use Migrate Mate to identify open NSU Construction roles with active sponsorship so you can plan your timeline from the start.
