Align your HR credentials to U.S. standards
If you hold an international HR certification, pair it with a U.S.-recognized credential like SHRM-CP or PHR before applying. Okta's HR roles often require familiarity with U.S. employment law, benefits administration, and compliance frameworks that differ significantly from other markets.
Target HR Business Partner and People Operations roles
Okta's HR openings skew toward HRBPs and people operations specialists tied to its engineering and go-to-market divisions. Positioning yourself around workforce planning and organizational design for fast-scaling tech teams aligns directly with where Okta concentrates its HR headcount.
Find open roles through Migrate Mate
Browse Okta's current HR openings that are open to visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate. Filtering by role function and visa type saves you from applying to positions where sponsorship isn't on the table, which is a real time cost in a competitive HR job market.
Understand how LCA filing affects your start date
Before your H-1B petition can be filed, Okta's employer of record must submit a Labor Condition Application to the DOL. The LCA certification process typically takes seven business days, so factor that into your negotiated start date when you receive an offer.
Clarify OPT STEM extension eligibility early
HR and People Operations roles at tech companies like Okta can qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension if your underlying degree is in a STEM-designated field such as industrial-organizational psychology or management information systems. Confirm your degree's CIP code with your DSO before your initial OPT expires.
Ask about green card sponsorship timelines during negotiation
Okta sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 green cards, but PERM labor certification timelines for HR roles can stretch beyond a year. Raise the question of green card sponsorship policy during the offer stage so you understand where the company's process starts and what your priority date exposure looks like.

Find Human Resources at Okta JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Okta sponsor H-1B visas for Human Resources roles?
Yes, Okta sponsors H-1B visas for Human Resources positions. HR roles that qualify as specialty occupations, typically requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in human resources, business, psychology, or a related field, are eligible. Okta's people operations and HR Business Partner roles have historically fallen within this category, though sponsorship decisions are made on a role-by-role basis.
Which visa types does Okta commonly sponsor for Human Resources positions?
Okta sponsors H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying HR classifications), F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for HR roles. For candidates pursuing permanent residency, Okta also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, which require PERM labor certification filed through the Department of Labor before an immigrant petition can be submitted to USCIS.
What qualifications does Okta typically expect for Human Resources roles?
Most HR roles at Okta require a bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational psychology, business administration, or a closely related field. For senior positions like HR Business Partner, Okta typically expects experience supporting engineering or product teams in a high-growth SaaS environment. Familiarity with U.S. employment law, Workday or similar HRIS platforms, and experience with distributed workforce programs strengthens your application considerably.
How do I apply for Human Resources jobs at Okta?
You can browse Okta's current HR openings that are open to visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa type so you're only seeing positions where sponsorship is realistic. From there, apply directly through Okta's careers portal. Tailor your resume to reflect experience with U.S. HR compliance, workforce planning for tech organizations, and any HRIS tools Okta lists in the job description.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take if Okta extends an offer?
After an offer, Okta's legal team files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, which typically takes around seven business days to certify. The H-1B petition to USCIS follows. Standard processing runs three to six months, while premium processing cuts that to 15 business days for an additional fee. If you're changing status from F-1 OPT, factor in your OPT expiration date when planning your start.
