Align your credentials to U.S. accounting standards
Robert Half's clients expect fluency with U.S. GAAP and tools like QuickBooks or NetSuite. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get them evaluated by a NACES-member service before applying, so your degree equivalency is clear from the start.
Target contract roles to build sponsorship eligibility
Robert Half frequently places Accountants on contract-to-hire engagements. Landing a contract role first lets you prove your value to a client before a permanent sponsorship conversation, which is how many sponsored placements actually originate at staffing firms.
Search Robert Half's open Accountant roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Robert Half's Accountant postings by visa type, so you can see which roles are open to E-3, TN, or F-1 OPT candidates without manually screening hundreds of listings.
Clarify your OPT or E-3 status early in conversations
Robert Half operates as the employer of record on many placements, which means they handle the visa filing, not the client. Disclosing your status upfront lets their internal compliance team confirm eligibility before you invest time in a multi-round interview process.
Understand how PERM affects your accounting role classification
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship for Accountants requires a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL. Robert Half will need to document that no qualified U.S. worker was available for your specific role, so your job duties and title should closely match the PERM application.
Use the 60-day grace period strategically between placements
If a contract placement ends while you're on a sponsored status, USCIS allows a 60-day grace period to secure a new role. Robert Half often has multiple active Accountant openings, so notify your recruiter immediately when an engagement is ending rather than waiting.

Find Accountant at Robert Half JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Robert Half sponsor H-1B visas for Accountants?
Robert Half does not commonly sponsor H-1B visas for Accountant roles, largely because the H-1B lottery creates uncertainty that staffing firms find difficult to plan around. Robert Half is more likely to sponsor Accountants through E-3, TN, or F-1 OPT, and in some cases through EB-2 or EB-3 for permanent placement pathways. If H-1B sponsorship is critical for you, clarify this directly with a recruiter before engaging in the interview process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Accountant roles at Robert Half?
Robert Half most commonly supports E-3 visas for Australian citizens, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT for recent graduates. For candidates seeking permanent residence, EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship through PERM labor certification is available for qualifying placements. The right pathway depends on your nationality, your current status, and whether the role is a direct hire or a contract-to-hire engagement.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Accountant jobs at Robert Half?
Robert Half typically looks for a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, and most client engagements require at least two years of hands-on experience. Familiarity with U.S. GAAP is expected, and proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle significantly strengthens your profile. CPA licensure or active candidacy is a consistent differentiator for mid-level and senior placements in professional services.
How do I apply for Accountant jobs at Robert Half?
You can browse and apply for Accountant roles at Robert Half through Migrate Mate, which surfaces listings filtered by visa sponsorship type so you can identify the right openings for your status. When you apply, lead your application with your visa category and authorization timeline. Robert Half recruiters handle a high volume of placements, so being explicit about your work authorization from the first contact speeds up the screening process considerably.
How do I manage the timeline between my visa status and a Robert Half placement start date?
Timing is the most common friction point in staffing firm sponsorships. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your EAD card is in hand before accepting an offer, as Robert Half must verify work authorization through E-Verify before your start date. For E-3 or TN, processing typically moves faster than H-1B, but build in buffer time for LCA certification with the DOL. Always communicate your authorization end date to your recruiter at the start of conversations.
