Align Your Credentials to NETA Standards
Shermco's field engineering roles prioritize NETA certification and hands-on electrical testing experience. Before applying, verify your certifications are current and your resume explicitly maps your testing background to the equipment categories Shermco services in medical device facilities.
Target Postings Tied to Medical Facilities
Shermco's Field Services Engineer openings vary by end-client sector. Filter your search toward roles supporting medical device or healthcare facility accounts, where project continuity needs make long-term sponsorship arrangements more practical for the employer to justify.
Clarify TN Eligibility Before Your Interview
If you're a Canadian or Mexican national, TN classification can apply to engineering roles if your degree field aligns with the DOL's approved TN engineer category. Confirm this match with your credentials before the offer stage to avoid delays during negotiation.
Understand the PERM Timeline for EB Sponsorship
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship requires the employer to complete PERM labor certification through DOL before filing with USCIS. This process typically takes 12 to 18 months or longer, so raise it early in the offer conversation rather than treating it as a post-hire discussion.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Shermco Openings
Shermco posts Field Services Engineer roles across multiple regions at once. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Shermco openings that list visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions where the hiring team has already confirmed immigration support is available.
Confirm OPT Cap-Gap Coverage Before Your Start Date
If you're on F-1 OPT and your employer files an H-1B petition on your behalf before OPT expires, cap-gap protection from USCIS extends your work authorization through September 30 of that year. Coordinate your expected start date with Shermco's HR team to ensure continuous coverage.

Find Field Services Engineer at Shermco Industries JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Shermco Industries sponsor H-1B visas for Field Services Engineers?
Shermco Industries has sponsored H-1B visas for engineering roles, though sponsorship decisions are made on a role-by-role basis depending on business need and candidate qualifications. Field Services Engineer positions that require specialized electrical testing expertise are generally stronger candidates for sponsorship consideration. Raise the topic directly with the recruiter once you receive an offer, and confirm the company's current process before signing.
Which visa types does Shermco Industries commonly use for Field Services Engineer roles?
Shermco has sponsored a range of visa categories for engineering staff, including F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. TN is the fastest route for eligible Canadian and Mexican engineers. For long-term sponsorship, EB-2 and EB-3 involve PERM labor certification through DOL followed by an I-140 petition with USCIS, which adds significant lead time.
What qualifications does Shermco Industries expect for Field Services Engineer candidates seeking sponsorship?
Shermco typically expects a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field, along with hands-on experience in power systems testing, maintenance, or commissioning. NETA certification is a strong differentiator for field roles. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field must align with the specialty occupation definition under USCIS guidelines, so a clear connection between your credentials and the technical scope of the role is important.
How do I apply for Field Services Engineer jobs at Shermco Industries?
You can search for open Field Services Engineer positions on Shermco's careers page or through Migrate Mate, which lets you filter specifically for Shermco roles that include visa sponsorship. Apply with a resume that highlights your electrical testing certifications, relevant field experience, and any specific equipment or industry exposure that matches Shermco's medical device and industrial client base. Note your visa status clearly in your application.
How long does the sponsorship and filing process take for a Field Services Engineer at Shermco Industries?
Timeline depends on the visa type. TN status for eligible nationals can be obtained at a port of entry within the same day. H-1B sponsorship involves the annual lottery with USCIS, an October 1 start date if selected, and processing that can take three to six months or more depending on whether premium processing is used. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM typically adds 12 to 18 months or longer before the I-140 is even filed.
