Align your credentials to NETA standards
Shermco values NETA-certified technicians for electrical testing work. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a formal equivalency evaluation before applying so your qualifications read clearly to a hiring manager reviewing dozens of domestic applicants.
Target open roles in field service divisions
Shermco's Technician openings skew toward field service and maintenance rather than lab-bench work. Prioritize applications for roles tied to testing, commissioning, or power systems, where your hands-on experience is the direct qualifier and sponsorship decisions move faster.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Shermco openings early
Shermco posts Technician roles across multiple states, and openings fill quickly. Search Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Shermco positions that are open to visa sponsorship so you're applying before roles close or get reposted without sponsorship availability.
Understand the PERM timeline before accepting an offer
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship requires a PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS can process your immigrant visa petition. That process alone can take a year or more, so factor it into your decision when evaluating a permanent residency path through Shermco.
Ask specifically about TN eligibility during the offer stage
TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical occupations and doesn't require a USCIS petition, which makes it faster to activate than an H-1B. Confirm during negotiations whether your Technician role qualifies under the applicable TN occupation category.

Find Technician at Shermco Industries JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Shermco Industries sponsor H-1B visas for Technicians?
Shermco Industries' primary sponsorship activity for Technician roles has been through employment-based Green Card categories (EB-2 and EB-3) and F-1 OPT rather than H-1B petitions. H-1B sponsorship is possible but less common for Technician positions, partly because these roles often require hands-on field work rather than the theoretical or research-oriented duties typically associated with H-1B specialty occupation classifications. If H-1B is your only pathway, discuss eligibility directly with the hiring team.
How do I apply for Technician jobs at Shermco Industries?
You can browse and apply for Technician positions at Shermco Industries through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship. Shermco posts openings across multiple states, so filtering by location and role type will help you find the right fit. Applications typically require a resume, relevant certifications (NETA or equivalent), and documentation of your work authorization status or sponsorship needs.
Which visa types does Shermco Industries commonly use for Technician roles?
Shermco has sponsored Technicians through F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visas, and employment-based Green Card categories including EB-2 and EB-3. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates entering field technician roles, while TN is an efficient option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations. EB-3 is the most typical path for long-term permanent residency sponsorship in skilled technician positions.
What qualifications does Shermco Industries expect from Technician candidates?
Shermco looks for Technicians with a background in electrical systems, power testing, or industrial maintenance. NETA certification is highly valued and can compensate for a non-U.S. degree in some cases. Hands-on experience with switchgear, transformers, or protective relays is commonly required. If your credentials were earned outside the U.S., a formal credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization strengthens your application.
How long does visa sponsorship take if Shermco Industries offers me a Technician role?
Timeline depends entirely on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization is already in place if you have a valid EAD. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border on the same day an offer is accepted. EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship involves DOL's PERM labor certification process followed by a USCIS petition, which can take one to three years or more depending on your country of birth and current priority date backlogs.
