Align your credentials to aerospace program standards
Spirit AeroSystems evaluates Project Managers against AS9100 and EVMS familiarity. Document any experience with earned value management, Integrated Master Schedules, or defense contract deliverables before applying, since these appear consistently across their open roles.
Search DOL records to confirm sponsorship intent
Before outreach, pull Spirit AeroSystems' Labor Condition Application history from the DOL OFLC disclosure data. Filter for project management job titles to verify which work locations and seniority levels have historically received LCA certifications.
Target Wichita-based roles for faster internal routing
Spirit's Wichita headquarters concentrates the largest share of Project Manager openings and has established HR and legal workflows for visa petitions. Roles at smaller satellite facilities may involve longer sponsorship approval chains internally.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Some Spirit Project Manager roles are tied to government contracts with security-clearance requirements that restrict sponsorship options. Ask the recruiter explicitly whether the role is clearance-eligible or clearance-required before the offer letter is drafted.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Project Manager openings by visa type
Not every Spirit AeroSystems posting is tagged for sponsorship on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to surface Project Manager roles that explicitly support H-1B or OPT, saving time on applications that won't lead anywhere for international candidates.
Time your H-1B cap filing around Spirit's hiring cycles
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year, and cap-subject petitions take effect October 1. If you receive a Spirit offer in Q2 or Q3, confirm with their immigration counsel whether a cap-gap extension or concurrent OPT period covers your start date.

Find Project Manager at Spirit AeroSystems JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Spirit AeroSystems sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Spirit AeroSystems sponsors H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file Labor Condition Applications through the DOL and submit I-129 petitions to USCIS. Sponsorship availability can vary by role, location, and whether the position involves government contract restrictions, so confirming scope directly with the recruiter during the interview process is important.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Spirit AeroSystems?
Applications go through Spirit AeroSystems' careers portal, where Project Manager roles are listed by site and program area. Tailoring your resume to reflect aerospace program management experience, including Integrated Master Schedule development or AS9100 compliance work, improves your screening odds. You can also browse visa-tagged Project Manager openings at Spirit through Migrate Mate to identify roles with confirmed sponsorship support before applying.
Which visa types does Spirit AeroSystems commonly use for Project Manager roles?
Spirit AeroSystems has used H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for professional roles. For Project Managers, H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant route. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management or engineering-adjacent roles. Green Card sponsorship through PERM is typically offered after an initial period of employment.
What qualifications does Spirit AeroSystems expect for Project Manager roles?
Most Spirit AeroSystems Project Manager postings require a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field, along with direct experience managing aerospace or defense programs. Familiarity with Earned Value Management Systems, MS Project or Primavera scheduling tools, and supplier coordination on long-cycle manufacturing contracts is frequently referenced. A PMP certification strengthens applications but is not universally required across all levels.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Spirit AeroSystems Project Manager offer?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B cap-subject cases require USCIS registration in March and have an October 1 start date, meaning you could wait six or more months from offer to authorization. TN visas for Canadian nationals can be approved at the border in a single day. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship typically takes two or more years when accounting for DOL audit risk in the aerospace sector.
