Frame Your Experience Around Defense Program Standards
Spirit AeroSystems works on FAA-regulated and defense-adjacent programs, so tailor your resume to show earned value management, AS9100 familiarity, and cross-functional coordination on multi-year production contracts, not just general project delivery.
Target Roles Tied to Active Production Programs
Spirit hires Program Managers against specific aircraft programs like the 737 MAX or 787. Search by program name alongside the job title so you're applying to roles with defined scope and active headcount, which accelerates the sponsorship decision internally.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsorship Openings
Not every Program Manager posting at Spirit flags sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to surface roles where Spirit has an active sponsorship track record for this function, so you're not spending time on postings that won't move forward for visa candidates.
Understand the PERM Timeline for EB-2 and EB-3 Paths
Green Card sponsorship through PERM requires DOL to certify no qualified U.S. workers were available. For Program Manager roles, that recruitment period typically runs six to twelve months before the I-140 petition can file, so raise long-term sponsorship early in your negotiation.
Request an H-1B Cap-Exempt Transfer If Already Sponsored
If you currently hold H-1B status with another employer, Spirit can file an H-1B transfer without waiting for the April lottery. You can start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition, which removes the biggest timing risk for both you and the hiring team.

Does Spirit AeroSystems sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, Spirit AeroSystems sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles. If you're already on H-1B status with another employer, Spirit can file a transfer petition and you can begin work once USCIS receives it, without waiting for a new lottery cycle. First-time H-1B applicants are subject to the annual cap and April registration window.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at Spirit AeroSystems?
Applications go through Spirit AeroSystems' careers portal, where you can filter by function and location. Roles are often tied to specific aircraft programs, so searching by program name alongside the title helps narrow relevant openings. Migrate Mate also surfaces Spirit's Program Manager postings with sponsorship context, which makes it easier to prioritize roles suited to your visa situation.
Which visa types does Spirit AeroSystems commonly use for Program Manager roles?
Spirit AeroSystems sponsors H-1B visas for Program Managers as the primary nonimmigrant work authorization path. The company also works with F-1 OPT and CPT candidates, and supports TN visa holders from Canada and Mexico where the role qualifies under USMCA. For longer-term immigration, Spirit has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for program management functions.
What qualifications does Spirit AeroSystems expect for Program Manager roles?
Spirit typically looks for a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field, combined with direct experience managing programs in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments. Familiarity with FAA regulations, AS9100 quality standards, earned value management, and cross-functional team leadership on multi-year production contracts strengthens a candidacy significantly. A PMP certification is advantageous but not universally required.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Spirit AeroSystems as a Program Manager?
If you're transferring an existing H-1B, you can start work the day USCIS receives the petition, typically within one to two weeks of filing. For new H-1B cap cases, you'd need to wait for the April lottery and an October 1 start date. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, where applicable, adds a DOL recruitment period of roughly six to twelve months before the I-140 can be filed with USCIS.
