Align your credentials to AS9100 standards
Spirit AeroSystems operates under aerospace quality management systems, so framing your resume around AS9100, NADCAP, or FAA repair station experience signals immediate fit. Hiring managers in aerostructures production prioritize candidates who understand regulated manufacturing environments, not just general process improvement.
Target programs tied to long-term contracts
Spirit supplies fuselage and nacelle structures for platforms like the 737 and A220. Roles supporting these multi-year programs are more likely to justify the investment in H-1B sponsorship than positions tied to short-cycle or transitional production work.
Verify your OPT STEM extension eligibility early
Manufacturing Engineering typically qualifies for the 24-month STEM OPT extension under designated CIP codes. Confirm your degree classification with your DSO before accepting an offer, since Spirit will need you covered through the next H-1B cap season if you plan to convert.
Prepare for security clearance compatibility screening
Spirit holds defense contracts that may require ITAR compliance or clearance eligibility assessments. Non-U.S. nationals can be disqualified from certain program assignments during the offer stage, so clarify which roles are clearance-restricted before you invest time in a specific application.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Manufacturing Engineer roles at Spirit AeroSystems
Sponsorship-eligible positions aren't always labeled clearly on general job boards. Migrate Mate filters Spirit AeroSystems openings by visa type, so you can identify which Manufacturing Engineer postings are actively open to sponsored candidates before applying.
Confirm the LCA prevailing wage before your final offer negotiation
Before Spirit files your H-1B, DOL requires a certified Labor Condition Application setting the prevailing wage for your role and work location. If your offer falls below the applicable wage level for a Manufacturing Engineer in Wichita or Tulsa, USCIS will flag it.

Find Manufacturing Engineer at Spirit AeroSystems JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Spirit AeroSystems sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing Engineers?
Yes, Spirit AeroSystems sponsors H-1B visas for Manufacturing Engineer roles. The company operates large-scale production facilities in Wichita, Tulsa, and other locations, and has a history of supporting sponsored candidates in engineering functions. Your offer will need to meet DOL prevailing wage requirements for your specific work site before USCIS will approve the petition.
How do I apply for Manufacturing Engineer jobs at Spirit AeroSystems?
You can search and apply for Manufacturing Engineer openings through Spirit AeroSystems' careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which surfaces sponsorship-eligible positions specifically. When applying, tailor your resume to the production program or platform referenced in the posting, since Spirit's engineering teams are often organized around specific aerostructure programs like fuselage or nacelle production.
Which visa types are commonly used for Manufacturing Engineer roles at Spirit AeroSystems?
Spirit AeroSystems sponsors H-1B visas for full-time Manufacturing Engineers and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates in engineering programs. TN visa holders with qualifying Canadian or Mexican engineering credentials are also eligible. For long-term permanent residency, Spirit has used EB-2 and EB-3 PERM-based Green Card sponsorship for engineering staff.
What qualifications does Spirit AeroSystems expect for Manufacturing Engineer roles?
Most postings require a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering. Practical knowledge of composite materials, lean manufacturing, or production system design is frequently listed. Experience with aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 or NADCAP is a strong differentiator. Roles tied to defense programs may include ITAR restrictions that limit eligibility for certain non-U.S. nationals regardless of visa status.
How do I time my H-1B application if I receive an offer from Spirit AeroSystems on OPT?
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March for an October 1 start date. If Spirit extends you an offer while you're on F-1 OPT, they'll need to register you in the lottery by late March. If you have a STEM-eligible degree, confirm your 24-month extension is filed before OPT expires to maintain work authorization while waiting for H-1B approval.
