Tips for Finding Project Program Manager Jobs at Spirit AeroSystems
Align your credentials to FAA program standards
Spirit's program managers work across FAA-regulated production environments, so certifications like PMP alongside aerospace-specific experience carry real weight. Frame your resume around schedule performance, cost control, and supplier coordination on certificated programs.
Target Spirit's defense and commercial program divisions separately
Spirit runs distinct program management tracks for commercial airframe work and defense contracts. Identify which division your background fits before applying, since hiring timelines and sponsorship approvals can move at different paces depending on program funding cycles.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Spirit AeroSystems openings by visa type
Searching broadly across job boards makes it hard to confirm which Spirit roles actively support sponsorship. Browse Spirit's Project Program Manager listings through Migrate Mate to surface positions where visa sponsorship is explicitly part of the hiring process.
Secure your H-1B status before the April lottery deadline
If you're transitioning off F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM OPT extension is in place to bridge you through the H-1B lottery. Spirit's HR teams in Wichita operate within standard cap-subject timelines, so your petition must be registered with USCIS by late March for an October 1 start.
Request Spirit's immigration counsel details early in negotiations
Large aerospace manufacturers typically retain dedicated immigration law firms to manage visa filings. Once you reach the offer stage, ask which firm handles Spirit's petitions so you can coordinate directly on I-129 document preparation and avoid delays from internal routing.
Document program scope clearly for specialty occupation review
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for program management roles by assessing whether the position genuinely requires a specialized degree. Your offer letter and employer support letter should specify the engineering or technical degree fields required, not just general business qualifications.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Spirit AeroSystems sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Managers?
Spirit AeroSystems does sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Manager roles, though sponsorship decisions depend on the specific position, division, and candidate qualifications. Because these roles involve coordinating across engineering and production teams, they generally satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements when the employer documents the technical degree requirement clearly in the petition.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Program Manager roles at Spirit AeroSystems?
H-1B is the most common work visa for Project Program Manager hires at Spirit AeroSystems. F-1 OPT and CPT can cover early-career candidates still within their authorized work period. TN visa status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management or engineering roles. For long-term pathways, Spirit has used EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for program management talent.
What qualifications and experience does Spirit AeroSystems expect for Project Program Manager roles?
Spirit typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field, often with a preference for aerospace or manufacturing experience. Program management certification such as PMP strengthens your profile. Hands-on experience managing cross-functional teams, production schedules, and supplier relationships on aerospace programs is weighted heavily, particularly if you've worked within FAA-regulated environments.
How do I apply for Project Program Manager jobs at Spirit AeroSystems?
You can find and apply for Spirit AeroSystems Project Program Manager openings through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where visa sponsorship is part of the hiring process. When applying, tailor your resume to Spirit's program structure by emphasizing schedule management, cost performance, and any experience with commercial or defense airframe programs. Following up with Spirit's talent acquisition team after submitting can also help your application move forward.
How do I plan my timeline if Spirit AeroSystems offers me H-1B sponsorship?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your current authorization end date immediately and check whether STEM OPT extension is available to bridge you to an October 1 H-1B start. USCIS opens H-1B registration in late March, and Spirit's immigration counsel will need several weeks before that to prepare your petition. Build in at least 60 to 90 days from offer acceptance to filing readiness.
