Frame your experience around rights and licensing
Spotify's BD team structures deals around music licensing, royalty frameworks, and content distribution. Candidates who can speak fluently to rights negotiations or label partnerships signal relevance immediately, well before the visa conversation begins.
Target roles in platform partnerships specifically
Spotify hires BD professionals to manage relationships with major labels, independent distributors, and podcast networks. Roles aligned to these verticals are more consistently sponsored than generalist BD positions, so filter your search accordingly.
Secure your LCA before your start date
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. The LCA must be certified first, so factor this into your negotiated start date. A typical LCA certification takes seven to ten business days.
Use Migrate Mate to find open sponsored BD roles
Not every Spotify Business Development posting explicitly flags visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to browse and filter verified sponsoring roles at Spotify, so you're applying where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than asking after an offer.
Prepare for a structured interview on cross-functional execution
Spotify BD interviews typically probe how you manage deals across legal, finance, and product. Documenting past cross-functional deal cycles in your portfolio strengthens your candidacy and gives immigration counsel clearer evidence of specialty occupation standing for your H-1B.

Find Business Development at Spotify JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Spotify sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, Spotify sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development roles. BD positions at Spotify typically qualify as specialty occupations because they require a degree in business, economics, or a related field combined with domain expertise in music licensing or platform partnerships. Your employer files the H-1B petition with USCIS after the DOL certifies the required Labor Condition Application.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Spotify?
Applications go through Spotify's careers portal, where BD roles are listed by team and region. You can also find verified sponsoring Business Development openings at Spotify on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed. Tailor your application to highlight deal experience in music, media, or content distribution, as these are the verticals Spotify BD teams work across most actively.
Which visa types does Spotify commonly use for Business Development roles?
Spotify sponsors H-1B visas for most Business Development hires requiring work authorization, with EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card pathways available for longer-tenured employees. H-1B status is granted in three-year increments and can be extended. The Green Card route involves PERM labor certification filed with the DOL, which is a multi-stage process that typically takes several years depending on your country of birth and priority date.
What qualifications does Spotify expect for Business Development roles?
Spotify BD roles typically require a bachelor's degree in business, economics, law, or a related discipline, alongside hands-on experience structuring partnerships or licensing agreements. Roles tied to label relations or distribution often expect familiarity with how music rights are cleared and monetized. Seniority expectations vary, but most mid-level and above BD positions require demonstrable experience managing complex, cross-functional deals from initiation through close.
How do I time my H-1B filing as a Business Development candidate at Spotify?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, meaning you'd need an offer in place before the registration window opens in March. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, your employment can begin before October 1 under the cap-gap rule, provided USCIS receives your petition before your OPT expires. Confirm your current status end date early so Spotify's immigration counsel can build the timeline around it.
