Align your credentials with DOT requirements
Operations roles in aviation ground handling often require specific safety certifications and airside access credentials. Before applying, confirm your qualifications map to U.S. Department of Transportation and TSA standards, as gaps here can slow both hiring and the PERM labor certification process.
Target Swissport locations with active hiring
Swissport operates at major cargo and passenger hubs across the U.S. Focus your applications on high-traffic airports where ground handling volume is sustained year-round, since those stations are more likely to have headcount approvals that support a sponsored hire.
Understand how PERM affects your timeline
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship requires your employer to complete PERM labor certification through DOL before filing with USCIS. For Operations roles, this process can take a year or more, so factor that into your decision if you're working against an OPT or grace period deadline.
Frame your experience around operational KPIs
Swissport Operations hiring centers on turnaround times, cargo throughput, and safety compliance. Quantify your past performance in these terms in your application materials so hiring managers can clearly justify the sponsorship case to internal stakeholders during offer approval.
Clarify sponsorship intent before accepting an offer
Once Swissport extends an offer, confirm in writing that the role is approved for visa sponsorship before your current status lapses. USCIS processing timelines for EB-3 petitions mean you need the I-140 filed well before any authorized stay expires.
Search Migrate Mate to identify open roles
Swissport posts Operations openings across multiple airports and job boards, which makes it easy to miss active positions. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Swissport Operations jobs that flag visa sponsorship, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already on the table.

Find Operations at Swissport JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Swissport sponsor H-1B visas for Operations roles?
Swissport's sponsorship activity for Operations roles is primarily through employment-based immigrant visa categories rather than the H-1B. Operations positions in ground handling and cargo services are generally classified as skilled labor roles, which aligns more naturally with EB-3 sponsorship. If your background includes supervisory or specialized logistics functions, an EB-2 pathway may also be possible depending on how the role is defined.
How do I apply for Operations jobs at Swissport?
You can apply directly through Swissport's careers portal or find open Operations roles filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume to aviation ground services terminology and highlight any airside, cargo, or ramp operations experience. Reaching out to the station manager or regional HR contact at your target airport can also help your application move faster through a large, multi-location hiring process.
Which visa types does Swissport typically use for Operations sponsorship?
Swissport has used EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories for Operations hires. EB-3 is the more common path for skilled and semi-skilled logistics roles, while EB-2 requires demonstrating advanced degree qualifications or exceptional ability. Both pathways require the employer to complete PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS can adjudicate the immigrant petition.
What qualifications does Swissport expect for sponsored Operations roles?
Swissport Operations roles typically require hands-on experience in airport ground handling, cargo services, or airline operations. Supervisory experience, safety compliance knowledge, and familiarity with ramp or cargo equipment are frequently cited requirements. For sponsored positions, your qualifications also need to satisfy the prevailing wage and job duties standards that DOL reviews during PERM, so a strong match between your background and the posted job description is essential.
How long does the sponsorship process take for an Operations role at Swissport?
For EB-3 sponsorship, expect the full process from PERM filing to USCIS I-140 approval to take at least one to two years under normal conditions, not counting any priority date backlog for your country of birth. PERM alone can take six to twelve months at DOL. Plan your current work authorization timeline accordingly, and raise the sponsorship conversation with Swissport's HR team as early as possible in the hiring process.
