Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Project Development Manager Jobs at Tetra Tech Jobs
Align your credentials to Tetra Tech's project verticals
Tetra Tech works heavily in water, environment, and infrastructure consulting. Frame your resume around technical project delivery in those sectors, not just general management experience. Recruiters screen for domain fit before evaluating sponsorship eligibility.
Confirm your degree supports specialty occupation status
Project Development Manager roles require USCIS to classify the position as a specialty occupation. A bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a directly related field strengthens that classification. Unrelated degrees can complicate the H-1B petition even when your experience is strong.
Use OPT strategically before your H-1B window opens
If you're on F-1 status, starting at Tetra Tech on OPT lets you demonstrate performance before the next H-1B cap registration cycle. Tetra Tech's consulting structure means project assignments during OPT directly build the case file your employer needs for the petition.
Target open requisitions across Tetra Tech's regional offices
Tetra Tech posts Project Development Manager openings across multiple U.S. regions with differing hiring timelines. Applying to multiple office locations increases your chances of landing a role with a hiring manager who has already navigated sponsorship for this position. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track active openings efficiently.
Clarify sponsorship intent during the offer stage, not after
Raise your visa status directly once Tetra Tech moves to the offer stage. Consulting firms expect this conversation and have HR processes in place, but delays in disclosing sponsorship needs can push your start date past OPT or grace period deadlines.
Understand the DOL prevailing wage requirement for your location
Tetra Tech must submit a Labor Condition Application to the DOL certifying your salary meets the prevailing wage for the Project Development Manager role in your work location. Roles in higher-cost markets may move faster because the wage floor is easier to satisfy with the budgeted salary.

Does Tetra Tech sponsor H-1B visas for Project Development Managers?
Yes, Tetra Tech sponsors H-1B visas for Project Development Manager roles. The position typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the technical consulting nature of the work, which is a prerequisite for H-1B eligibility. Your degree field matters, so engineering, environmental science, or a closely related discipline gives your petition the strongest foundation when Tetra Tech files with USCIS.
How do I apply for Project Development Manager jobs at Tetra Tech?
Apply directly through Tetra Tech's careers portal, which lists openings by region and practice area. Because Project Development Manager roles vary significantly by sector at Tetra Tech, filter by the vertical that matches your background, such as water, environment, or infrastructure. You can also browse and track these openings through Migrate Mate, which surfaces visa-sponsoring employers and active roles in one place.
Which visa types does Tetra Tech commonly use for Project Development Manager roles?
Tetra Tech supports a range of visa categories for this role, including H-1B for degreed professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates transitioning from student status, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories, and J-1 for exchange visitors. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and where you are in your immigration timeline when you receive an offer.
What qualifications does Tetra Tech expect for Project Development Manager roles?
Tetra Tech's Project Development Manager positions generally require a bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related technical field, combined with experience managing projects in consulting or professional services. Client-facing skills, familiarity with proposal development, and sector expertise in water, environment, or infrastructure are consistently valued. Advanced degrees or professional certifications such as PMP can differentiate candidates in competitive hiring cycles.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap and visa filing process?
H-1B cap registration opens in March each year for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date and calculate whether a cap-gap extension covers any gap between OPT and October 1. Tetra Tech's HR team manages the USCIS filing after selection, but you'll need to align your offer acceptance and start date negotiation around these fixed government deadlines, not the employer's standard onboarding calendar.
