Align your credentials to PMP standards
United Rentals expects Project Program Managers to demonstrate formal project management credentials. A PMP certification or equivalent strengthens your petition and signals readiness to take on multi-site rental fleet programs without a long ramp-up period.
Target roles tied to fleet expansion
United Rentals regularly runs large capital programs around branch openings and fleet integration. Applying to postings that reference growth initiatives or multi-branch coordination puts you in line for roles where sponsorship decisions carry long-term business weight.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles
Sponsorship-eligible Project Program Manager positions at United Rentals are not always labeled as such. Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring roles and surface postings you would otherwise miss in a general job board search.
Prepare for H-1B specialty occupation scrutiny
USCIS requires that H-1B roles qualify as specialty occupations. For project management positions in rental and leasing, document how your degree directly applies to the technical scope of the role, since generalist PM titles sometimes draw requests for evidence.
Clarify sponsorship intent before offer stage
United Rentals recruits at scale across dozens of locations. Raising your visa status early in the process, before a verbal offer, prevents late-stage complications when hiring managers route approvals through a central HR and legal function.
Understand the PERM timeline for long-term paths
If your goal is permanent residence through an EB-2 or EB-3, factor the PERM labor certification process into your planning. DOL processing backlogs mean your employer needs to initiate PERM well before your nonimmigrant status reaches its renewal limit.

Does United Rentals sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Managers?
Yes, United Rentals has sponsored H-1B visas for Project Program Manager roles. The company operates nationally and routes sponsorship decisions through a centralized HR function, so eligibility can vary by business unit and location. Your role will need to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which means documenting a clear connection between your degree field and the specific technical demands of the position.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Program Manager roles at United Rentals?
H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant visa for Project Program Manager positions at United Rentals. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported, making the company accessible to recent graduates before they enter the H-1B lottery. TN status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose qualifications fall within eligible USMCA professional categories. For long-term paths, United Rentals has also filed EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for qualifying employees.
What qualifications or experience are expected for Project Program Manager roles at United Rentals?
United Rentals typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field, combined with several years of program or project management experience. Exposure to large-scale operations, capital equipment programs, or multi-site coordination is a strong differentiator. A PMP certification is not always required but consistently appears in postings and carries weight during both the hiring decision and any subsequent H-1B specialty occupation assessment.
How do I apply for Project Program Manager jobs at United Rentals?
Applications go through United Rentals' careers portal, but not all postings are tagged for visa sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate filters specifically for United Rentals roles that support international candidates, so you can focus your applications on positions where sponsorship is a realistic outcome. Before applying, confirm the role's location and business unit since sponsorship decisions at United Rentals are made regionally rather than at a single company-wide level.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing H-1B sponsorship at United Rentals?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date, meaning you need an offer in hand several months before that window opens. If you're on F-1 OPT, your program end date sets a hard deadline for when United Rentals needs to complete USCIS registration on your behalf. Building at least a three-month buffer between your offer acceptance and your status expiration protects against processing delays or requests for evidence.
