Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Clinical Specialist Jobs at University of Colorado Jobs
Align your credentials to Colorado's clinical standards
University of Colorado health system roles typically require state licensure or eligibility alongside your clinical degree. Verify your foreign credentials through a NACES-approved evaluation before applying, since credential gaps are the most common cause of delayed sponsorship decisions.
Target departments with active clinical hiring
Clinical Specialist openings at University of Colorado cluster around its academic medical centers and specialty clinics. Search the university's careers portal by department rather than job title alone to surface roles that may list slightly different titles but carry identical sponsorship pathways.
Ask about the LCA filing timeline during your offer
Before accepting an offer, confirm when the university's international services office plans to file the Labor Condition Application with DOL. For clinical roles with a specific start date tied to a department's staffing cycle, LCA timing can directly affect your first day.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsoring Clinical Specialist roles
Filter specifically for Clinical Specialist positions at University of Colorado using Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles by visa type sponsored. This lets you prioritize openings where sponsorship for your specific visa category has already been confirmed.
Understand how OPT and CPT connect to longer-term sponsorship
If you're starting on F-1 OPT or CPT, clarify early whether your department has initiated H-1B cap sponsorship before your OPT expires. University academic employers can file cap-exempt H-1B petitions, which removes the lottery and annual cap constraints that affect private-sector jobs.
Prepare your J-1 waiver documentation before the offer stage
Clinical Specialists coming through J-1 exchange programs face a two-year home residency requirement before H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. If you hold a J-1, confirm whether you qualify for a Conrad 30 waiver or interested government agency waiver well before your job offer is finalized.

Find Clinical Specialist at University of Colorado JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does University of Colorado sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Specialists?
Yes, University of Colorado sponsors H-1B visas for Clinical Specialist roles. As an academic institution, the university qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer, meaning it can file petitions year-round without entering the annual lottery. This is a significant advantage for international candidates who may have missed or lost the H-1B cap selection at a previous employer.
How do I apply for Clinical Specialist jobs at University of Colorado?
Applications go through the University of Colorado's official careers portal at cu.edu. Search for Clinical Specialist roles by keyword and filter by campus or department. Prepare a resume tailored to clinical and academic environments, and note that most postings ask whether you require visa sponsorship during the application. You can also browse open positions through Migrate Mate to filter by visa type before applying.
Which visa types does University of Colorado commonly use for Clinical Specialist roles?
University of Colorado sponsors several visa categories for Clinical Specialist positions, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, J-1 for exchange visitors, and F-1 OPT and CPT for current students. For permanent residency pathways, the university has supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for clinical staff in qualifying roles.
What qualifications does University of Colorado expect for Clinical Specialist candidates?
Most Clinical Specialist roles at University of Colorado require a relevant clinical degree, such as a master's or doctoral credential in the applicable specialty, along with current or eligible state licensure in Colorado. Experience in an academic medical or hospital setting is often preferred. International candidates should have their foreign degrees evaluated through a NACES-recognized credential evaluation service before applying.
How long does the sponsorship and onboarding process take for Clinical Specialist roles?
For H-1B sponsorship at a cap-exempt institution like University of Colorado, USCIS standard processing runs roughly three to six months. Premium processing, which expedites the decision to around 15 business days, is available for an additional USCIS fee. Factor in DOL Labor Condition Application processing time of seven business days before the H-1B petition can be filed, and build your start date expectations around that combined timeline.
