How to Get Visa Sponsorship in University of St Thomas Visa Sponsorship USA
Target faculty and research roles first
University of St Thomas most commonly sponsors visas for academic and research positions. Focus your search on faculty openings, postdoctoral roles, and research staff positions, these are where sponsorship is most likely to be considered and approved.
Lead with your degree field alignment
Specialty occupation is central to H-1B approval. For an academic employer like St Thomas, demonstrating a direct match between your degree and the role you're applying for is critical, generic applications without that alignment rarely move forward.
Apply through the university's HR portal directly
University of St Thomas manages its own hiring centrally. Applications submitted through official channels are more likely to reach hiring managers who can authorize sponsorship discussions, skipping official portals reduces your chances significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm sponsorship history before applying
Not every posted role comes with automatic sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, confirming St Thomas has supported your visa type before investing time in the application process.
Reach out to department contacts before interviews
In higher education hiring, department chairs often influence whether sponsorship gets approved. If you have an academic connection or research overlap with a St Thomas department, a brief professional introduction before applying can meaningfully improve your sponsorship prospects.

Does University of St Thomas sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, University of St Thomas sponsors H-1B visas. The university has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions, primarily for faculty, researchers, and specialized professional staff. Sponsorship is most common in academic departments where the role requires a specific degree field. If you're applying for a position, it's worth confirming sponsorship eligibility early in the process, as not every role automatically qualifies.
What visa types does University of St Thomas sponsor?
University of St Thomas sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation roles, as well as EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term employment. The university also supports F-1 OPT extensions, making it accessible to recent graduates, and TN visas for qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals. The mix of temporary and permanent options reflects a genuine institutional commitment to hiring international talent.
Which roles at University of St Thomas are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Faculty positions, postdoctoral researchers, and specialized academic staff are the roles most commonly associated with visa sponsorship at St Thomas. Administrative and professional roles may also qualify if they meet specialty occupation criteria, typically requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. How do I find open sponsored jobs at University of St Thomas?

You can also check the university's official careers portal directly for the latest postings. When you find a role of interest, confirm sponsorship eligibility before applying, not every open position will include it as a standard offering.
How do I improve my chances of getting sponsored by University of St Thomas?
Position yourself clearly as a specialty occupation candidate, your degree must align directly with the role, not just broadly with the field. In higher education, hiring timelines can be long, so applying early and following up professionally matters. Demonstrating familiarity with the university's academic mission and connecting with relevant department faculty before formal interviews can also strengthen your candidacy significantly.
