INTRODUCTION
Veeva Systems is a mission-driven organization and pioneer in industry cloud, helping life sciences companies bring therapies to patients faster. As one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in history, we surpassed $3B in revenue in our last fiscal year with extensive growth potential ahead.
At the heart of Veeva are our values: Do the Right Thing, Customer Success, Employee Success, and Speed. We're not just any public company – we made history in 2021 by becoming a public benefit corporation (PBC), legally bound to balancing the interests of customers, employees, society, and investors.
As a Work Anywhere company, we support your flexibility to work from home or in the office, so you can thrive in your ideal environment.
Join us in transforming the life sciences industry, committed to making a positive impact on its customers, employees, and communities.
THE ROLE
We are seeking an entrepreneurial, highly technical, and driven Lead QA Engineer to join our Services Tooling team. As part of an engineering team embedded within our Services business, you will help build and scale the internal platforms that power our global implementation consultants, including complex configuration and data migration tools.
As the founding QA engineer, you will define and build the QA strategy from scratch. You will develop automation frameworks to ensure GxP-compliant test evidence and traceability, while selecting tools, designing architecture, and setting quality standards. You will also lead innovation in AI-driven testing.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-ownership environments and enjoys solving complex data, cloud, and architectural challenges.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build from Scratch: Architect, design, and implement scalable test automation frameworks for both UI and API layers of our internal Spring Boot platforms.
- Innovate with AI: Spearhead our next-generation testing efforts by researching, designing, and creating AI testing agents to augment our automation (e.g., intelligent test generation, identifying edge cases, or self-healing pipelines).
- Solve Complex Problems: Act as the sole QA authority on the engineering team. When you hit a roadblock, you will be expected to research, prototype, and implement the solution independently.
- Automate Everything: Read and analyze complex system requirements to architect and automate comprehensive regression, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) test suites.
- Enable Compliance: Partner with our validation compliance members. You will ensure your automation framework generates the exact traceability, logs, and test evidence she needs to support GxP compliance and Validation Summary Reports.
- Automate the Pipeline: Integrate your test suites into our CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions) to ensure immediate feedback on every build.
- Collaborate Globally: Work closely with developers, business stakeholders, and compliance teams across time zones to understand complex technical requirements and edge cases.
REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years of hands-on experience building test automation frameworks from the ground up; not inheriting or maintaining existing ones.
- Founding QA mindset is a must. You'll operate without a playbook, navigating ambiguous and uncharted technical territory. We need someone with the grit, resourcefulness, and raw problem-solving ability to figure things out independently and move fast.
- Proven ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into comprehensive automated test suites, including spanning integration, E2E, regression, and edge cases that others wouldn't think to test.
- Deep expertise in enterprise backend testing, including BDD with Gherkin/Cucumber against Java/Spring Boot applications, paired with strong command of modern UI automation tooling such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Strong API testing chops and experience handling large-scale datasets to assess with stress testing.
NICE TO HAVE
- Passion for or foundational experience with AI/ML, LLMs, or designing AI-driven testing agents.
- Knowledge of GxP compliance, Computer Systems Validation (CSV), or experience testing software in highly regulated industries (Life Sciences, Pharma, Finance). If you don't have this, you must simply have a strong willingness to collaborate with our compliance team to learn the requirements!
LOCATION
Veeva’s headquarters is located in the San Francisco Bay Area with offices in more than 15 countries around the world.
Veeva is an equal opportunity employer. Align your resume to life sciences software
Veeva hires engineers who understand regulated industry workflows, not just general SaaS. Highlight experience with clinical data systems, pharmaceutical compliance tools, or regulated software development processes before you apply.
Target roles that match your exact visa type
Veeva sponsors multiple visa categories, including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. Use Migrate Mate to filter open Software Systems Engineer positions by the visa type your situation requires, so you only pursue roles where sponsorship is confirmed.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
Software Systems Engineer roles at Veeva typically require a computer science or engineering degree. If your credential is from a non-U.S. institution, get a credential evaluation completed before interviews so delays do not stall your I-129 filing.
Understand Veeva's cap-subject filing window
If you need a new H-1B and are not already in H-1B status, USCIS only accepts cap-subject petitions once per year. Time your Veeva application process so an offer is in hand before the March registration window opens.
Demonstrate cloud platform depth in technical interviews
Veeva's engineering interviews test candidates on distributed systems and cloud architecture, reflecting its Vault platform infrastructure. Prepare examples from prior work involving large-scale SaaS deployments, API integrations, or multi-tenant system design.

Find Software Systems Engineer at Veeva Systems JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Veeva Systems sponsor H-1B visas for Software Systems Engineers?
Yes, Veeva Systems sponsors H-1B visas for Software Systems Engineers. The company has a consistent sponsorship history for engineering roles and supports both cap-subject petitions for new H-1B holders and transfers for candidates already in H-1B status. You should confirm the specifics of what Veeva covers, including premium processing, during the offer negotiation stage.
How do I apply for Software Systems Engineer jobs at Veeva Systems?
You can browse and apply for Software Systems Engineer positions at Veeva Systems directly through Migrate Mate, which filters openings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. Veeva's hiring process typically includes a recruiter screen, technical assessments focused on systems design and cloud architecture, and panel interviews with engineering leads.
Which visa types does Veeva Systems commonly sponsor for Software Systems Engineer roles?
Veeva Systems sponsors several visa categories for Software Systems Engineers, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Singapore and Chile nationals, TN for Canadian and Mexican citizens, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing U.S. degrees. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Veeva also supports employment-based Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 and EB-3 categories via the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Veeva Systems expect for Software Systems Engineer roles?
Veeva typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B sponsorship. Beyond credentials, Veeva prioritizes hands-on experience with cloud platforms, distributed systems, and enterprise SaaS. Familiarity with life sciences or regulated industry software is a differentiator that sets candidates apart in the process.
How do I time my application if I need H-1B sponsorship and am currently on F-1 OPT?
If your OPT is active, you can start immediately without waiting for the H-1B cap cycle. File the USCIS cap-subject H-1B petition during the March registration window for an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1, a timely filed petition with a receipt notice keeps you in valid status under the cap-gap rule, which bridges the gap automatically.
