Tailor your resume to NVIDIA's stack
NVIDIA's Software Systems Engineer postings consistently emphasize CUDA, Linux kernel internals, firmware development, and PCIe or NVLink experience. Aligning your resume to these specifics signals you can contribute from day one, which matters when a team is evaluating both technical fit and sponsorship overhead.
Target teams actively filing LCAs
NVIDIA files Labor Condition Applications through the DOL for every H-1B placement. Searching public OFLC disclosure data for NVIDIA's Software Systems Engineer LCA filings reveals which internal teams and office locations are hiring internationally, helping you prioritize where to apply.
Confirm E-3 eligibility before your first interview
If you're an Australian citizen, the E-3 visa moves faster than H-1B and sidesteps the annual lottery. NVIDIA sponsors E-3s for this function, so declare your nationality and visa pathway early in the recruiter screening call to frame the timeline correctly.
Prepare a specialty occupation evidence file
USCIS scrutinizes whether Software Systems Engineer roles genuinely require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field. Gather transcripts, degree certificates, and any credential evaluations early so your employer's immigration counsel can build a strong I-129 petition from the start.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles faster
NVIDIA's Software Systems Engineer openings that include visa sponsorship are filterable on Migrate Mate, saving you from manually screening dozens of job listings for sponsorship language buried in job descriptions or recruiter notes.
Clarify Green Card timeline expectations at offer stage
NVIDIA sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for engineering roles, but PERM labor certification timelines vary significantly by DOL processing backlogs and your country of chargeability. Ask your recruiter directly whether the team initiates PERM in year one or after a standard service period.

Does NVIDIA sponsor H-1B visas for Software Systems Engineers?
Yes, NVIDIA sponsors H-1B visas for Software Systems Engineer roles. The company files petitions through the standard USCIS H-1B cap process, which includes the annual lottery held each April for an October 1 start date. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, NVIDIA can also file an H-1B transfer, which lets you start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition.
How do I apply for Software Systems Engineer jobs at NVIDIA?
Apply directly through NVIDIA's careers portal and filter by engineering discipline and location. For roles that include visa sponsorship, Migrate Mate aggregates NVIDIA's open Software Systems Engineer positions so you can confirm sponsorship availability before applying. Tailor your application to the specific platform or domain listed in the job description, whether that's GPU firmware, driver development, or system software, since NVIDIA's hiring teams are highly specialized.
Which visa types does NVIDIA commonly use for Software Systems Engineer roles?
NVIDIA sponsors H-1B, E-3, and Green Card pathways (EB-2 and EB-3) for Software Systems Engineer positions. H-1B is the most common path for candidates from non-treaty countries. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3, which has no lottery and allows two-year renewable status. For long-term employees, NVIDIA initiates PERM labor certification as the first step toward a Green Card.
What qualifications does NVIDIA expect for Software Systems Engineer roles?
Most Software Systems Engineer postings at NVIDIA require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science. Practically, strong candidates have hands-on experience with Linux kernel development, embedded firmware, or GPU architecture. For USCIS specialty occupation purposes, your degree field needs to directly relate to the role's core technical responsibilities, so generalist software degrees may require additional documentation.
How do I time a visa filing around an NVIDIA offer?
If you're subject to the H-1B cap, timing is tight. Registrations open in March for an October 1 start, so an offer in Q4 or Q1 may mean waiting nearly a year. E-3 applicants move faster since there's no lottery and consular appointments in Australia typically run two to four weeks out. NVIDIA's immigration counsel coordinates directly with you after the offer stage, so ask your recruiter to initiate that introduction as early as possible.
