Target engineering and technical roles first
Viken Detection's core business is detection hardware, so roles in electrical engineering, systems engineering, and hardware development are most likely to attract visa sponsorship. Focus your application on positions where your technical specialization directly matches their product development needs.
Highlight hands-on hardware experience
This is not a software-first company. Candidates who can demonstrate experience with physical detection systems, sensor integration, or electronics prototyping will stand out. Lead with lab work, hardware builds, or product testing experience rather than general technical credentials.
Understand the TN visa option if you qualify
Viken Detection sponsors TN visas in addition to H-1B, which means Canadian and Mexican nationals have an additional pathway. TN processing is faster and doesn't require a lottery, making it a practical advantage if your citizenship and role category qualify.
Use OPT or CPT as an entry point
Viken Detection has a track record of sponsoring F-1 students through OPT and CPT. If you're currently on a student visa, an internship or OPT role can position you for a full-time H-1B sponsorship once you've demonstrated your value to the team.
Research open roles at verified sponsors before applying
Before reaching out cold, confirm Viken Detection is actively hiring in your area. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find open roles at companies like Viken Detection that have a demonstrated track record.
Prepare for a technical interview process aligned with defense and security standards
Viken Detection operates in a regulated space involving security screening and detection technology. Expect technical interviews to probe domain knowledge alongside engineering fundamentals. Familiarity with compliance requirements or experience in government-adjacent industries will strengthen your candidacy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Viken Detection sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Viken Detection sponsors H-1B visas. The company has filed H-1B petitions for roles in its electronics and hardware operations, particularly for technical and engineering positions. While it is not among the highest-volume H-1B sponsors, it has a consistent track record, which signals a genuine willingness to hire international candidates when the right skills match.
Which visa types does Viken Detection sponsor?
Viken Detection sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas. This range of visa types is broader than many small hardware companies, meaning international candidates at multiple stages of their immigration journey, from students on OPT to experienced professionals seeking H-1B transfer, may find a viable path here.
What types of roles at Viken Detection are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Given Viken Detection's focus on detection hardware and sensor technology, engineering roles are the most common sponsorship candidates. Positions in electrical engineering, hardware design, systems integration, and product development align directly with the company's work. Roles requiring specialized technical degrees are most likely to meet the specialty occupation threshold required for H-1B sponsorship.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at Viken Detection?
Migrate Mate is the most reliable way to find visa-sponsored roles at companies like Viken Detection. The platform lets you filter by verified sponsorship history so you're not guessing whether a company will support your visa. Search for Viken Detection directly or browse electronics and hardware employers with confirmed H-1B or OPT sponsorship records to identify current openings.
How do I approach Viken Detection as an international applicant to improve my chances?
Lead with the technical skills that directly serve Viken Detection's detection and hardware products. Since the company is not a large enterprise recruiter, a targeted application demonstrating specific domain knowledge, such as sensor systems, RF technology, or embedded hardware, will carry more weight than a general resume. If you're on OPT, applying early in your authorization window gives the company time to plan an H-1B petition without timeline pressure.
