INTRODUCTION
We’re looking for a social editor to help manage the Strategist’s social accounts. This person will work across social platforms to develop ideas, create written and video content, and represent the brand in a way that feels fresh, culturally aware, and unmistakably us. They will be the ‘host’ of the Strategist on Instagram, and help guide our readers through the shopping landscape. You should be able to flawlessly write a caption, film and edit green-screen takes of a news post for Tik Tok, ideate social-only rubrics with our team of writers, as well as asking talent questions for social video.
Who We Are
The Strategist is New York Magazine’s site for rigorously reported service journalism that helps readers shop smartly. Its writers and editors surface the stuff that is actually worth buying, alongside all sorts of things you never knew you needed. The Strategist is part of Vox Media, the leading modern media company. We guide our audience from discovery to obsession. We inspire essential conversations about what’s now, what’s next, and what’s possible. As a community of journalists and storytellers, business professionals, creators and technologists, we believe it is a moral and business imperative to amplify voices: to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and media. This applies to our candidates, our teams, our storytelling, our creative work, and our platforms, products, and partnerships.
What You’ll Do
- Work directly with the Senior Editor on any social and audience needs across social platforms. Responsible for both creating content and posting across social platforms.
- Develop, film and edit quick-turn videos and recurring franchises across TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms.
- Serve as an on-camera ‘host’ for the Strategist and public-facing voice for our brand’s social storytelling.
- Track shopping trends, pitch creative concepts, and help evolve our tone and social identity.
- Write and produce smart, engaging copy and visuals that reflect The Strategist’s distinctive tone and perspective.
- Collaborate with editorial, art, and social teams on rollout plans for major packages, covers, and sales events.
- Identify and track emerging trends, memes, and conversations across the shopping space.
- Help build and refine strategies to grow engagement and reach across new and existing platforms.
- Be proactive in pitching ideas, testing formats, and finding new ways to make The Strategist’s stories travel.
Who You Are
- A shopping obsessive with a deep passion for service journalism – you’re a compulsive noticer with an eagle eye for detail
- Chronically online with a finger on the pulse of trends, influencers, and relevant voices in the shopping space
- Strong, engaging on-camera presence and writing voice
- Prior experience growing an audience
- Experience making and editing social content across multiple platforms
- Flexible, fast, and collaborative — equally comfortable ideating and executing
- Strong understanding of the Strategist sensibility, tone, and audience
- Strong understanding of analytics and social media trends across platforms
- Confidence in generating ideas
- Experience writing engaging headlines and teasers
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Figma or other design platforms.
- 2-3 years of experience

How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Vox Media Visa Sponsorship USA
Highlight media-tech crossover skills
Vox Media operates at the intersection of journalism and technology. Candidates who can demonstrate both technical depth and an understanding of digital media products stand out in a competitive applicant pool for sponsored roles.
Address sponsorship directly in your outreach
Because Vox Media sponsors a limited number of visas each year, raise your visa needs early in conversations with recruiters. This avoids wasted time and signals you understand the process, which experienced sponsoring employers appreciate.
Use verified sponsorship data when searching
Not every Vox Media role will come with sponsorship. Browse open positions on Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history rather than guessing from job listing language.
Align your application with Vox Media's editorial brands
Vox Media's portfolio includes The Verge, SB Nation, and Eater. Tailoring your resume to show genuine familiarity with these properties signals cultural fit, which matters in a company where editorial identity is central to the business.

Does Vox Media sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Vox Media sponsors H-1B visas. Sponsorship is not offered across every open role, so it tends to be concentrated in technology and software positions where specialized skills are hardest to source domestically. If you need H-1B sponsorship, focus your applications on engineering, product, and data teams and confirm sponsorship eligibility directly with the recruiter early in the process.
Which visa types does Vox Media sponsor?
Vox Media sponsors H-1B visas and supports F-1 OPT candidates, including those on STEM OPT extensions. It has also sponsored TN visas, which are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional roles. If you hold a different visa type, confirm eligibility with Vox Media's recruiting team, as sponsorship decisions are made on a role-by-role basis.
Which departments or roles at Vox Media are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Technology and software roles are the most consistent candidates for visa sponsorship at Vox Media, given that specialized technical talent is harder to source and the business case for sponsorship is easier for employers to make. Software engineering, data science, and product development positions are the strongest targets. Editorial and business roles are less likely to come with sponsorship, though exceptions exist.
How do I find currently open visa-sponsored jobs at Vox Media?
Migrate Mate lists open roles at verified sponsoring employers, including Vox Media, so you can filter by company and visa type rather than sorting through job listings that don't disclose sponsorship status. Because Vox Media sponsors selectively, checking regularly and setting up alerts for new postings gives you the best chance of catching a role that fits your background before the applicant pool fills.
How do I time my application to Vox Media around H-1B deadlines?
The H-1B cap registration window typically opens in March for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting Vox Media and need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, aim to have an offer in hand by late January or February so the company has time to prepare the registration. If you're on OPT or STEM OPT, confirm your expiration date and communicate it clearly so Vox Media's legal team can assess the timeline.
