Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Instructor Jobs at Western Kentucky University Jobs
Align your credentials to U.S. standards early
If your degree was earned outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before you apply. WKU hiring committees expect documentation that maps your qualifications directly to U.S. academic equivalency requirements.
Target departments with recurring Instructor openings
WKU posts Instructor roles across many colleges, from Nursing to Engineering Technology. Focusing on departments that hire repeatedly increases your odds of finding a hiring manager already comfortable with sponsorship paperwork and timelines.
Clarify sponsorship intent before your final interview round
University HR teams are experienced with visa processes, but individual department chairs vary. Ask directly whether the department has worked with sponsored hires before so you are not discovering friction after an offer is extended.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Instructor roles at WKU
Searching broadly across job boards buries sponsorship-friendly listings. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Instructor positions at Western Kentucky University where visa sponsorship is confirmed, saving time on roles that will not move forward.

Find Instructor at Western Kentucky University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Western Kentucky University sponsor H-1B visas for Instructors?
Yes, Western Kentucky University sponsors H-1B visas for Instructor roles. As a university, WKU qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer, meaning petitions are not subject to the annual 85,000-cap lottery and can be filed year-round. This is a meaningful advantage over private-sector employers and gives international candidates more scheduling flexibility.
How do I apply for Instructor jobs at Western Kentucky University?
Applications go through WKU's official careers portal, where you'll submit a CV, cover letter, and any required teaching materials or statements. You can also find open Instructor positions filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. Once you apply, expect a departmental review followed by interviews before any offer or sponsorship discussion begins.
Which visa types does Western Kentucky University commonly use for Instructor roles?
WKU sponsors H-1B visas most frequently for Instructors, and the university's cap-exempt status makes this a practical route. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying academic roles. For candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 status, WKU also works with OPT and CPT authorization. Permanent residency through EB-2 or EB-3 is available for longer-term positions.
What qualifications does Western Kentucky University expect for Instructor positions?
Requirements vary by department, but most Instructor roles require at minimum a master's degree in a relevant field, with doctoral credentials expected for higher-level or tenure-track adjacent positions. Teaching experience, evidence of student engagement, and in some departments, professional licensure or industry credentials, are commonly part of the evaluation. Foreign degrees typically need a NACES-approved credential evaluation to confirm U.S. equivalency.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an Instructor role at WKU?
For H-1B sponsorship, standard USCIS processing runs three to six months from petition filing. Because WKU is cap-exempt, there's no lottery wait, but the university still needs time to prepare the Labor Condition Application with DOL before filing. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, the full process typically spans one to three years depending on backlog and priority dates.
