At WHOOP, we're on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers users to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives. WHOOP is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead and drive critical design improvements, validation strategy, and sustaining engineering efforts for our flagship wearable products at scale. You are a proactive, highly organized engineer with strong problem-solving skills and a sharp eye for detail. You thrive in a fast-paced, execution-driven environment and can drive creative mechanical solutions with independence and sound technical judgement. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program Management to deliver high-impact product improvements driven by customer feedback and evolving business needs. You will work closely with global suppliers and contract manufacturers to execute validation builds and drive and scale design changes in production environments, with a focus on high-quality deliverables, robust risk management, clear technical communication, and manufacturing stability. WHOOP operates with urgency because our mission demands it. We build products for people who push their limits—and we hold ourselves to the same standard. If you’re energized by complex challenges, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to improve hardware products at scale, this role will push you—and reward you.
Responsibilities
- Complete technical ownership of mechanical subsystems and components for current generation WHOOP hardware products, driving improvements from concept through implementation in mass production
- Lead design, analysis, and development of mechanical solutions to improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost within existing production and design constraints
- Lead engineering change implementation with vendors and contract manufacturers, ensuring clear communication and seamless integration into production
- Define and lead DOE and validation strategies to optimize product and manufacturing performance
- Lead root cause investigations and drive resolution of quality, yield, and reliability issues in production
- Own and maintain CAD models and technical documentation (3D, 2D, BOMs, ECOs) to support design changes, validation, and high-volume manufacturing
- Mentor junior engineers and promote strong engineering best practices
- Travel internationally up to 20% to support manufacturing partners and production builds
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in the design, improvement, and sustaining of complex mechanical products, preferably in consumer electronics, wearables, or medical devices
- 4+ years of SolidWorks CAD experience with best practices in part design, tolerance analysis, advanced assemblies, configuration management, and integration of DFx/DfM feedback
- 3+ years of experience working with Tier 1 and 2 contract manufacturers, including driving engineering changes and sustaining production in Asia and North America
- Demonstrated experience with high-volume manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, die casting, automated assembly), with a focus on yield, reliability, and cost optimization

Build a hardware-focused portfolio before applying
Whoop's Mechanical Engineer roles emphasize wearable device design, thermal management, and miniaturization. Document any experience with consumer electronics, medical wearables, or small-form-factor product development, since these directly mirror Whoop's hardware stack and will carry weight in technical screens.
Research Whoop's DOL Labor Condition Applications
DOL's public disclosure data shows the exact job titles and wage levels Whoop has filed for Mechanical Engineer roles. Cross-referencing these before your offer negotiation tells you the prevailing wage floor the company is already committed to meeting for this function.
Confirm sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Ask explicitly whether the offer covers H-1B cap-subject filing and premium processing. Some employers sponsor existing employees but cap their support for new hires. Getting this in writing before you accept avoids a gap in status if timelines shift.
Find Whoop's open Mechanical Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to filter Whoop's current Mechanical Engineer openings by visa type. This surfaces only roles where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're not wasting time on applications that won't move forward for international candidates.
Prepare credentials for specialty occupation documentation
USCIS requires evidence that a Mechanical Engineer role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Gather your transcripts, a credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the U.S., and any professional engineering licenses or certifications before the I-129 petition stage.

Find Mechanical Engineer at Whoop JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Whoop sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
Yes, Whoop sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineer roles. The company has an active history of filing H-1B petitions for engineering talent, which is consistent with its product development needs in wearable hardware. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, your employer files the I-129 petition after the lottery selection, so timing your job search around the April filing window matters.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at Whoop?
Applications go through Whoop's careers page, where roles are posted by team and location. Before applying, use Migrate Mate to identify which open Mechanical Engineer positions at Whoop are confirmed for visa sponsorship, so you can prioritize your effort. Tailor your resume to highlight hardware design experience relevant to wearables, thermal systems, or consumer electronics, since those are core to Whoop's engineering work.
Which visa types does Whoop sponsor for Mechanical Engineer roles?
Whoop sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Mechanical Engineer positions. OPT and CPT are entry points for recent graduates, while H-1B is the standard long-term option. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose Mechanical Engineering credentials meet the USMCA professional category requirements, and it can be processed faster than H-1B.
What qualifications does Whoop expect for Mechanical Engineer roles?
Whoop's Mechanical Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with CAD tools, product development cycles, and manufacturing processes is expected. Given Whoop's focus on wearable technology, familiarity with small-form-factor design, plastics, elastomers, or biomechanics strengthens your candidacy beyond the baseline degree requirement.
How do I manage my visa timeline when pursuing a Mechanical Engineer role at Whoop?
If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS requires your H-1B petition to be filed before your OPT expires to maintain work authorization continuity. The H-1B cap filing window opens in April each year, with an October 1 start date. If you're hired mid-year, confirm whether Whoop will pursue a cap-exempt filing or whether you'll need to bridge through an OPT extension before the next cycle.
