WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level and live longer through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives. Protecting our members’ data and ensuring our systems scale securely and reliably is core to this mission.
As an Engineering Manager on the Translations Platform team, you will lead a team responsible for building and scaling the systems that enable WHOOP to deliver a seamless, high-quality multilingual experience across mobile, web, and backend services. This includes owning the infrastructure, tooling, and workflows that power localization, internationalization (i18n), and right-to-left (RTL) support, expanding WHOOP’s reach to more global markets. You will operate at the intersection of platform engineering, product experience, and global expansion, partnering closely with Product, Design, Marketing, and external vendors to ensure translations are delivered accurately, efficiently, and at scale. This role is highly execution-focused, with an emphasis on building reliable systems, improving developer workflows, and enabling rapid addition of new languages while navigating tradeoffs like vendor vs. in-house solutions.
Responsibilities

- Lead and grow a team of engineers responsible for translation pipelines, language services, and localization frameworks across mobile, web, and backend
- Drive improvements to translation workflows, reducing manual processes, delays, and operational friction in the current system
- Partner with Product, Design, QA, and Marketing to ensure high-quality localized member experiences
- Oversee the integration and evolution of translation vendors, APIs, and internal systems (e.g., Smartling, AI-based translation workflows)
- Ensure systems support scalable language expansion, including complex requirements like bidirectional text, RTL layouts, and data-heavy UI components
- Establish strong operational practices, including monitoring, debugging, and maintaining translation accuracy and freshness across services
- Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to ensure translation systems are reliable, performant, and well-integrated into the broader architecture
- Manage team execution, balancing new feature delivery, infrastructure improvements, and technical debt reduction
- Mentor engineers and foster a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience managing and developing software engineers in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment
- Experience delivering complex, cross-functional systems that span multiple platforms (mobile, web, backend)
- Strong technical background in distributed systems, APIs, and backend services
- Familiarity with translation pipelines, vendor integrations, or content management systems
- Experience improving developer workflows through tooling, automation, and platform investments
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to balance speed, quality, and long-term scalability in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with or building localization, internationalization (i18n), or content delivery systems desired
- Familiarity with translation platforms such as Smartling or AI-based translation systems desired
- Experience building or scaling internal platforms that support global product expansion desired
- Knowledge of mobile and frontend challenges related to localization desired (iOS, Android, web)

Frame your PM credentials around hardware-software cycles
Whoop develops continuous health monitoring devices, so PM candidates who can document experience managing cross-functional sprints across firmware, hardware, and data pipelines stand out. Tailor your resume to reflect that product lifecycle, not generic project coordination.
Confirm TN eligibility before applying
If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, the TN visa covers certain management roles, but the job title and duties must align with a qualifying USMCA category. Verify your specific PM role description meets TN criteria before your offer stage, not after.
Time OPT applications around Whoop's product launch calendar
Whoop typically ramps up hiring ahead of product and feature releases. If your OPT authorization window is narrow, targeting application periods aligned with those hiring surges gives you the best shot at a fast offer-to-filing timeline.
Get your educational credentials evaluated early
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS requires that your degree qualifies as a specialty occupation. If you hold a degree from outside the U.S., obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-member agency before interviews so there are no delays during petition preparation.
Search Whoop's open PM roles on Migrate Mate
Filtering by visa type and role function saves significant time during your search. Use Migrate Mate to identify active Project Manager openings at Whoop that are open to sponsored candidates, so you're targeting confirmed opportunities rather than guessing at sponsorship willingness.
Clarify H-1B filing timing during the offer stage
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed for the October 1 start date following the April lottery. If Whoop extends an offer outside that window, ask their HR team directly whether a cap-exempt entity or a bridge arrangement is available to cover your start date.

Find Project Manager at Whoop JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Whoop sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Whoop has sponsored H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, your petition would need to clear the annual USCIS lottery, with a target start date of October 1. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, Whoop can file an H-1B transfer without waiting for the next lottery cycle.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Whoop?
Apply directly through Whoop's careers page. Before applying, confirm the role listing is open to sponsored candidates. Migrate Mate surfaces Project Manager openings at Whoop filtered by visa sponsorship type, which helps you prioritize roles where sponsorship has historically been available rather than applying blindly and asking about it later.
Which visa types does Whoop commonly use for Project Manager roles?
Whoop supports H-1B sponsorship for Project Managers and also works with candidates on F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT during their authorized work periods. TN status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose PM role description fits a qualifying USMCA professional category. Confirm the visa type with HR during the offer stage.
What qualifications does Whoop expect for Project Manager candidates?
Whoop operates in the wearable technology and human performance research space, so PM candidates are generally expected to have experience managing complex, cross-functional product development cycles. Familiarity with hardware and software integration timelines, agile methodologies, and stakeholder communication across engineering and research teams will strengthen your application significantly.
How do I plan my timeline if Whoop is sponsoring my H-1B?
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start, so align your job search accordingly. If you're on OPT, confirm how much time remains and whether you qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, which can bridge the gap if you miss a lottery cycle. USCIS premium processing is available and reduces the adjudication window to 15 business days.
