Compliance Officer Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a compliance officer job in Houston?
Target Houston's dominant sectors: oil and gas, midstream energy, banking, and healthcare systems. The Energy Corridor and Greenway Plaza concentrate the most openings, while the Texas Medical Center drives strong demand for regulatory and healthcare compliance roles. Candidates who combine industry-specific knowledge, such as FERC or SEC regulations, with practical audit or risk experience stand out in Houston's specialized, sector-driven market.
Which companies hire compliance officers in Houston?
Companies currently hiring compliance officers in Houston include Invesco, Frost, and SSL, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Houston's hiring base is unusually concentrated in energy majors, midstream operators, regional banks, and large hospital systems, making sector experience a stronger differentiator here than in most other cities.
Are there remote compliance officer jobs in Houston?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role: analytical and policy-focused compliance work tends toward remote or hybrid arrangements, while hands-on audit, trading floor, or lab compliance roles typically require on-site presence. About 74% of compliance officer openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of November 2026. Financial services and corporate legal compliance positions in Houston are most likely to offer flexible arrangements.
How can I get a compliance officer job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through compliance analyst or regulatory coordinator roles inside energy companies or regional banks, which routinely hire early-career candidates from business, accounting, or legal backgrounds. Houston employers also promote from internal audit, operations, and HSE roles into compliance. Familiarity with energy regulations or healthcare accreditation standards, even through coursework, gives candidates a meaningful edge in this market.
Which industries hire the most compliance officers in Houston?
Houston compliance officer roles concentrate in Investment & Asset Management, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Houston's outsized energy sector, its dense network of midstream and petrochemical firms, and the Texas Medical Center's scale make these industries the primary drivers of local compliance hiring.
