Construction Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a construction manager in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license specifically for construction managers, but most employers expect a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture. Gaining field experience as an assistant project manager or superintendent is the standard path. The OSHA 30-Hour Construction credential and certifications like the Certified Construction Manager from the Construction Management Association of America strengthen your candidacy considerably with Texas employers.
Which companies hire construction managers in Texas?
Employers hiring construction managers in Texas right now include Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, Yates Construction, and Suffolk Construction, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's mix of energy, commercial, and residential development means large general contractors, industrial builders, and national homebuilders all maintain consistent hiring pipelines across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most construction manager jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin have the most construction manager openings in Texas. Houston's dominance reflects its concentration of energy facility, industrial, and port infrastructure projects, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws volume from commercial real estate and corporate campus development, and Austin's sustained population and tech-sector growth continues to fuel multifamily and mixed-use construction at a high rate.
Are there remote construction manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 7% of construction manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the fundamentally on-site nature of construction management work. The portions most amenable to remote work are pre-construction planning, estimating, and owner-side program management roles where site presence is not required daily.
How can I get hired as a construction manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an assistant project manager or project engineer role with a large Texas general contractor. Companies like Turner Construction and Hensel Phelps recruit through university programs at Texas A&M, UT Austin, and Texas Tech, which have well-established construction science programs. Completing an OSHA 30-Hour course and internships before graduation gives candidates a clear edge. Adjacent roles in estimating or field supervision also open the door to management tracks.
Where can I find and apply to construction manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to construction manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across commercial, industrial, residential, and infrastructure sectors. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialty, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
