Test Engineering Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a test engineering manager in Texas?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field followed by several years as a test or quality engineer in a Texas industry such as semiconductors, aerospace, or industrial automation. Texas does not require a state-issued license specific to test engineering management, though a Professional Engineer license from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors can strengthen candidacy at regulated employers. Moving into management typically requires demonstrating team leadership on complex validation or reliability programs.
Which companies hire test engineering managers in Texas?
Employers hiring test engineering managers in Texas right now include Apple, Apptronik, and Advantest, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of semiconductor fabrication, defense systems, and oilfield technology companies means demand for this role is spread across a broad mix of industries rather than clustering in a single sector.
Which Texas cities have the most test engineering manager jobs?
Austin, Denison, and Garland have the most test engineering manager openings in Texas. Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth drive volume through semiconductor manufacturers, enterprise software firms, and defense contractors headquartered there, while Houston's openings are tied closely to energy technology, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing employers concentrated in that metro.
Are there remote test engineering manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're relatively limited. About 0% of test engineering manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of much of the work. The portions of the role most compatible with remote arrangements are test strategy planning, documentation, vendor coordination, and team oversight, while lab validation and hardware work typically require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a test engineering manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a test engineer, quality engineer, or validation engineer role at a Texas employer in semiconductors, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing, then taking on informal team lead responsibilities before applying to manager openings. Companies like Texas Instruments and Lockheed Martin run structured rotational or associate engineering programs that build the cross-functional exposure hiring managers look for. Earning a Certified Software Test Professional credential or completing a LabVIEW certification gives candidates a concrete edge when competing for a first management role.
Where can I find and apply to test engineering manager jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to test engineering manager jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and target location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
