Construction Project Engineer Jobs in New Jersey

Nicholson Corporation is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Project Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial construction to join our growing Millwork division.

Nicholson is a diversified and growing company with a broad range of project types within the Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Aviation, and Manufacturing sectors. Our projects require strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and coordination throughout the construction process.

The Project Engineer will provide technical and administrative support to the Project Management team and will assist with the coordination of millwork projects from bid through close-out. This position will work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, suppliers, accounting, and contract administration to help maintain accurate project documentation, keep project information organized, and support the timely completion of project-related tasks.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional to further develop their knowledge of commercial construction, millwork, project documentation, and project management processes while working closely with Project Managers.

Job Description

The Project Engineer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Coordinate and maintain project submittals, including review of specifications and applicable requirements.
• Maintain accurate submittal logs and track outstanding items.
• Assist with LEED documentation, including research, tracking, and spreadsheet maintenance.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain required project documentation in conjunction with Accounting and Contract Administration.
• Organize and maintain electronic project files, including documents maintained through web-based plan and construction management systems.
• Assist Project Managers with project correspondence and follow-up with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist Project Managers with T&M tickets and RFCs, including entering information, tracking documentation, and coordinating with Accounting to support timely invoicing.
• Assist Project Managers with material orders, including entering and issuing purchase orders and updating quantities, pricing, and delivery information as needed.
• Maintain and distribute pending RFC logs and assist Project Managers with follow-up and documentation related to outstanding changes.
• Assist with maintaining RFC and approved Change Order documentation for GC meetings.
• Coordinate project warranties and close-out documentation, including compiling required documents for submission to the GC.
• Assist Project Managers with other project-related administrative and coordination tasks as needed.
• Participate in special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial construction, preferably with a commercial contractor.
• Knowledge of commercial construction processes and project documentation.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience with Autodesk Build, Procore, PlanGrid, or similar cloud-based construction management software preferred.
• Strong organizational and document management skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong work ethic and a professional, reliable approach to work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe, email, and other relevant computer applications.
• Sage 300 or Foundation experience a plus.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
