Construction Project Manager Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a construction project manager in Louisiana?
Most construction project managers in Louisiana enter the role with a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture, followed by field experience as an assistant or superintendent. Louisiana does not require a state-issued license specific to construction project managers, but employers consistently prefer candidates holding the Project Management Professional credential from PMI or the Certified Construction Manager designation from CMAA. Building experience on industrial or infrastructure projects common to Louisiana strengthens a candidate's profile significantly.
How much do construction project managers make in Louisiana?
Construction project managers in Louisiana earn a median of about $110,010 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $66,790 for the lowest 10% to over $173,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire construction project managers in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring construction project managers in Louisiana include EMCOR, Harris, and VPG Enterprise, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's petrochemical corridor along the Mississippi River and its ongoing coastal infrastructure investments keep demand from large industrial and civil contractors particularly active.
Which Louisiana cities have the most construction project manager jobs?
Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and New Orleans account for the most construction project manager openings in Louisiana. New Orleans anchors the market through its port, hospital, and hospitality construction activity, while Baton Rouge draws volume from industrial and petrochemical capital projects, and Shreveport reflects steady commercial and public-sector development in the northwest part of the state.
Are there remote construction project manager jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. About 20% of construction project manager openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how site-dependent the role is by nature. The portions of the work most likely to be performed remotely are pre-construction planning, estimating, scheduling, and owner reporting, while active site oversight requires a physical presence.
How can I get hired as a construction project manager in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a project engineer or assistant project manager role at a Louisiana general contractor or industrial construction firm, where you learn scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and cost control on the job. Large contractors operating along the petrochemical corridor and in the New Orleans market routinely bring on recent construction management graduates in field engineer positions. Completing a PMI-recognized training program or earning an associate-level credential from CMAA while in that role accelerates promotion to project manager.
Where can I find and apply to construction project manager jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to construction project manager jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to whichever positions fit.
