Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and immunizations, following aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
- Assist with complex procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, and ventilator management across various specialties including ICU, emergency medicine, cardiology, and ophthalmology.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations like laboratory specimen collection/processing, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and radiology procedures such as sonography or mammography when applicable.
- Provide specialized care for diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal infants, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs, and those requiring hospice or palliative medicine.
- Lead patient education initiatives on health coaching topics such as chronic disease management, medication administration, nutrition, and discharge planning to promote long-term wellness.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized care plans that meet NCQA standards and address acute pain management or trauma medicine needs in Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, sterile processing standards, and medical documentation accuracy while maintaining detailed medical records.
Experience
- Proven experience working in acute care environments such as ICU or emergency room settings with Level I or Level II trauma center exposure preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and order entry.
- Prior experience in medical-surgical units or hospital medicine supporting inpatient care delivery across multiple specialties including cardiology, internal medicine, orthopedics, or obstetrics.
- Skilled in performing advanced nursing procedures such as IV insertion/venipuncture, Foley catheter care, ostomy care, and aseptic technique adherence.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including behavioral health cases, long-term care residents in assisted living or nursing homes, and home & community care settings.
- Knowledge of infectious disease protocols and familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes is advantageous.
- Valid RN license with current state registration; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are highly desirable.
Pay: $40.12 - $48.31 per hour
