Controller Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a controller job in Los Angeles?
Focus your search on the sectors that drive the most controller hiring in Los Angeles: entertainment and media companies in Burbank and West Hollywood, real estate investment firms in Century City, and private equity-backed businesses Downtown. Candidates with experience closing books for multi-entity or fund structures stand out here. Networking through local CPA societies and finance meetups in the Westside and Downtown corridors moves faster than cold applications in this market.
Which companies hire controllers in Los Angeles?
Employers hiring controllers in Los Angeles right now include ghj, DLC, and CBRE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market skews toward entertainment studios, commercial real estate platforms, private equity portfolio companies, and mid-market professional services firms.
Are there remote controller jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though the role is moderately remote-friendly since controllers typically oversee month-end close, audits, and team supervision that benefit from on-site presence. About 63% of controller openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. The most remote-eligible work tends to be in tech and SaaS-adjacent companies headquartered in Santa Monica or the Playa Vista corridor.
How can I get a controller job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is targeting senior accountant or accounting manager roles at mid-size Los Angeles companies, particularly in real estate, entertainment, or logistics, and building toward a controller title internally. Smaller Westside startups and family offices often promote from within and are more open to first-time controllers than large studios or institutional investors. A CPA license and experience with consolidated reporting accelerate the path considerably in this market.
Which industries hire the most controllers in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles controller roles concentrate in Investment & Asset Management, Consulting & Professional Services, and Fintech, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The city's outsized entertainment industry, dense commercial real estate market, and growing base of private equity-backed mid-market companies create consistent, year-round demand for controllers at every level.
