COO Jobs in Tampa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a coo job in Tampa?
The strongest path into a coo role in Tampa is building a record of P&L ownership and cross-functional leadership within the city's dominant sectors: financial services, health tech, and distribution. Tampa's mid-market companies and regional headquarters in Westshore and downtown hire coos who can scale operations without adding significant overhead. Candidates who bring experience in one of these sectors and can point to measurable efficiency or revenue outcomes move fastest through local hiring processes.
Which companies hire coos in Tampa?
Tampa coo roles are posted by Breeze, L'Oréal, and Barton Malow Company and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Tampa's employer mix includes regional financial firms, multi-site healthcare operators, and logistics companies that rely on a coo to bridge strategy and day-to-day execution.
Are there remote coo jobs in Tampa?
Yes, though remote coo work is less common than for individual-contributor roles because the position typically requires direct oversight of people, facilities, and vendors. About 30% of coo openings tied to Tampa are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, skewing toward companies where operations are primarily digital or distributed. The parts of the role most suited to remote work in Tampa tend to involve vendor management, financial reporting, and strategic planning rather than on-site operational oversight.
How can I get a coo job in Tampa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tampa is moving into a director of operations or VP of operations role at a growing mid-market company, then stepping up internally. Tampa's health tech firms, staffing companies, and logistics operators in the Port Tampa Bay corridor regularly promote from within when they scale. Candidates who take ownership of a specific operational problem, document the outcome, and build relationships with the executive team position themselves well for a coo promotion without needing to start at a major corporation.
Which industries hire the most coos in Tampa?
Tampa coo roles concentrate in Insurance, Consumer Goods, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Tampa's position as a regional hub for financial services back-office operations, an expanding health technology corridor, and one of the Southeast's busiest logistics markets drives consistent demand for operational leadership at the executive level.
