COO Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a coo in Florida?
Becoming a coo in Florida typically requires a bachelor's degree in business, operations, or a related field, with many employers preferring an MBA from an accredited program. There is no state-issued license for the coo role itself in Florida. Most candidates build toward the position through senior director or VP of Operations roles at Florida companies, accumulating broad cross-functional leadership before being considered for executive appointment.
Which companies hire coos in Florida?
Employers hiring coos in Florida right now include Webull Financial, University of Miami, and DaVita, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's large healthcare systems, regional financial services firms, and fast-growing technology companies in the Tampa Bay and Miami corridors are consistently among the most active sources of coo openings in the state.
Which Florida cities have the most coo jobs?
Miami, Orlando, and Jacksonville have the most coo openings in Florida. Miami drives demand through its concentration of multinational headquarters, financial services firms, and hospitality groups, while Tampa's healthcare and technology sectors generate steady executive hiring and Orlando's tourism, real estate, and healthcare industries support a strong pipeline of senior operational leadership roles.
Are there remote coo jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical roles, since coos are typically expected to lead operations on the ground. About 27% of coo openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with fully remote arrangements most often found at software companies or holding companies where day-to-day site presence is not required.
How can I get hired as a coo in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building operational depth in a director-level role first, targeting Florida's large healthcare systems, hotel management groups, or technology companies that promote from within. Employers like AdventHealth and regional private equity-backed companies often develop operational leaders through director of operations and VP-level positions before promoting to the executive suite. An MBA from a Florida university and a record of managing P&L responsibility in a Florida-based business will make a candidate significantly more competitive.
Where can I find and apply to coo jobs in Florida?
