COO Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a coo in Texas?
Becoming a coo in Texas typically starts with a bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or a related field, with most employers preferring an MBA or equivalent graduate credential. Texas does not require a state-issued license specifically for the coo title, but candidates in regulated industries like healthcare must hold relevant executive or clinical credentials. Most Texas coos build their path through director and VP-level operations roles at Texas-based companies before stepping into the C-suite.
Which companies hire coos in Texas?
Employers hiring coos in Texas right now include Cook Children's Health Care System, Cook Incorporated, and Omni Hotels, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major regional enterprises across Houston, Dallas, and Austin means executive operations roles open consistently across energy, healthcare, and technology sectors.
Which Texas cities have the most coo jobs?
Houston, Fort Worth, and Dallas have the most coo openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense energy and healthcare headquarters, Dallas draws heavily from financial services and logistics firms, and Austin's rapid technology sector growth has made it a consistent source of executive operations roles, including at both established companies and high-growth startups.
Are there remote coo jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. The coo role is fundamentally operational and requires hands-on leadership of people, facilities, and processes, which limits remote arrangements more than most executive functions. About 5% of coo openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be at technology companies or firms with distributed operations where strategic oversight can be exercised without daily on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a coo in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a director of operations or VP of operations role at a Texas-based company before pursuing the coo title directly. Large Texas employers in healthcare, such as HCA Healthcare and Texas Health Resources, run structured leadership development programs that place emerging executives into regional operations roles. Building experience in supply chain management, project operations, or business unit leadership at Texas energy or technology firms also creates a credible path toward the C-suite.
Where can I find and apply to coo jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to coo jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and metro areas. Find the roles that fit your experience and apply directly through each listing.
