COO Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a coo job in Philadelphia?
The strongest path to a coo role in Philadelphia runs through its healthcare networks, regional banks, and professional services firms, which consistently hire at the executive level. Candidates who have led operations through growth or restructuring stand out in this market. Networking through local business associations and board-level connections in Center City and University City opens doors that posted listings often don't.
Which companies hire coos in Philadelphia?
Employers hiring coos in Philadelphia right now include Penn Medicine, Temple University Health System, and Thomas Jefferson University & Jefferson Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Philadelphia's hiring mix tends to feature large health systems, regional financial institutions, and mid-size professional services firms alongside emerging life sciences companies anchored in the University City Science Center corridor.
Are there remote coo jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, though coo roles are rarely fully remote given the hands-on leadership and cross-functional oversight they require. About 35% of coo openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting flexibility in scheduling rather than fully location-independent work. Strategy, investor relations, and board-facing responsibilities are the functions most commonly handled off-site in Philadelphia-based organizations.
How can I get a coo job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an operations director or VP of operations role at a mid-size Philadelphia company, then building toward the coo title. Philadelphia's dense nonprofit sector, health systems like Penn Medicine and Jefferson Health, and growing life sciences firms in University City regularly hire operations managers who advance quickly. Demonstrating P&L responsibility and cross-department leadership in those settings builds the profile Philadelphia employers look for at the coo level.
Which industries hire the most coos in Philadelphia?
The sectors hiring the most coos in Philadelphia are Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Government & Public Sector, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Philadelphia's role as a regional hub for healthcare delivery, financial services, and life sciences research drives consistent executive-level operations hiring that outpaces most comparable mid-Atlantic metros.
