Quality Manager Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality manager in Pennsylvania?
Becoming a quality manager in Pennsylvania typically starts with a bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a life sciences field, followed by hands-on quality assurance experience in one of the state's major industries. Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license for the role, but the American Society for Quality's Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer designation is widely expected by Pennsylvania employers, particularly in pharmaceuticals, defense, and food manufacturing.
How much do quality managers make in Pennsylvania?
Quality managers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $109,140 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $71,950 for the lowest 10% to over $180,750 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality managers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring quality managers in Pennsylvania right now include Voith, Walmart, and Langham Logistics, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of pharmaceutical manufacturers along the Route 202 corridor and defense contractors near Philadelphia creates especially consistent demand for quality managers with regulatory compliance backgrounds.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most quality manager jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and York have the most quality manager openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because of its dense pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing base, Pittsburgh draws from steel, robotics, and advanced manufacturing employers, and Allentown benefits from the Lehigh Valley's strong food production and industrial distribution industries.
Are there remote quality manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're rare. Quality manager work is largely hands-on, requiring physical presence on production floors, in labs, or at supplier sites, so most roles are fully on-site. About 38% of quality manager openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in supplier quality auditing and quality systems documentation rather than day-to-day production oversight.
How can I get hired as a quality manager in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into quality from an adjacent production or lab role, such as quality technician, manufacturing inspector, or process engineer, at a Pennsylvania employer in pharmaceuticals or food and beverage. Large operations like those in the Lehigh Valley food manufacturing corridor and the Philadelphia biotech cluster regularly hire quality technicians and quality associates as a feeder path into management. Pursuing an entry-level ASQ certification, such as the Certified Quality Improvement Associate, gives candidates a measurable edge before applying.
Where can I find and apply to quality manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to quality manager jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across industries including manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and defense. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
