What You’ll Be Doing
Schedule: 8:30am-5:00pm or 9:00am-5:30pm - 8 hours
The Clinical Dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy to patients who are recovering from an eating disorder, including educating patients and families on meal plans and nutritional needs.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides medical nutrition therapy to patients with eating disorders by assessing nutritional status, establishing a meal plan necessary to improve nutritional status and evaluating patient's response to the plan
- Provides individualized nutrition counseling and education to patients and/or families to establish and achieve nutritional goals
- Completes documentation of interventions, individual and family sessions and meal plans
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team to coordinate treatment plans. Attends team meetings and team rounds to serve as the nutrition expert resource
- Facilitates experiential groups, which may include restaurant outings, food preparation and cooking groups (as applicable), as well as assists in providing meal and snack support and supervision
Clinical Dietitian I Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree (Required), Graduate degree (Preferred)
- A valid US driver license (Required)
- Current RD/RDN credential with the Commission on Dietetic Registration Certification/Registration required in all states that offer it. National certification, Registered Dietitian (RD) preferred (Required)
- Current state dietitian/nutritionist license, as required by state law (Required)
- 0-2 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian (Required)
Clinical Dietitian II Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree (Required), Graduate degree (Preferred)
- A valid US driver license (Required)
- Current RD/RDN credential with the Commission on Dietetic Registration Certification/Registration required in all states that offer it. National certification, Registered Dietitian (RD) preferred (Required)
- Current state dietitian/nutritionist license, as required by state law (Required)
- 2 or more years of experience as an RD, with a minimum of 2 years working with eating disorders. National certification, Registered Dietitian (RD) (Required)
Sr. Clinical Dietitian III Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree (Required), Graduate degree in nutrition, dietetics or related field (Preferred)
- A valid US driver license (Required)
- Current RD/RDN credential with the Commission on Dietetic Registration Certification/Registration required in all states that offer it. National certification, Registered Dietitian (RD) preferred (Required)
- Current state dietitian/nutritionist license, as required by state law (Required)
- 5 or more years of experience as an RD working with eating disorders. National certification, Registered Dietitian (RD) (Required)
- CEDRD, CDE, CSSD, or CNSC (Preferred)
The compensation range for this position is based upon candidate experience and market expectations. Maryland Pay Range $65,000 - $100,000 USD

Does a Clinical Medical Assistant role qualify for CPT authorization?
It depends on whether the role directly connects to your enrolled curriculum. Clinical Medical Assistant positions that involve patient intake, vital signs, clinical charting, or exam assistance typically align with health sciences and medical assisting programs. Your DSO makes the final determination, so bring a written job description to your authorization meeting and confirm the employer's duties match your program learning outcomes.
Can I work full-time as a Clinical Medical Assistant on CPT?
Full-time CPT, defined as 20 or more hours per week, is permitted but carries a significant consequence: 12 months of full-time CPT eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. If you plan to use OPT after graduation, keep CPT part-time or limit full-time CPT to under 12 cumulative months. Discuss the tradeoff with your DSO before accepting a full-time offer.
What documents does the employer need to onboard me on CPT?
Your employer will need your updated I-20 showing the authorized CPT, your valid F-1 visa, your passport, and your I-94 arrival record. Employers enrolled in E-Verify will run your documents through that system. Some clinical employers also require a signed training or affiliation agreement, which your school's internship office may need to co-sign before your start date.

Clinics, urgent care networks, and outpatient practices that have hired international students before are more likely to understand the CPT authorization process and be willing to provide the required training agreement.
What happens if my CPT employer changes my role or location mid-authorization?
Any material change to the job, including a shift in duties, employer location, or employment dates, requires a new or amended CPT authorization from your DSO and an updated I-20. Working outside the terms of your authorized CPT, even temporarily, puts your F-1 status at risk. Notify your DSO immediately if the employer changes anything and hold off on the new arrangement until your I-20 reflects the updated terms.
